Stopped by this neighborhood burger joint during CicLAvia, that brings thousands into Boyle Heights and creates a significant business opportunity for local restaurants like Jim’s. Unfortunately, this place was not prepared and made it very clear that outside customers were more of a burden than a welcome presence. The food was good. The bacon cheeseburger was solid, though noticeably light on lettuce — likely rationed due to the crowd or simply being stingy. The chili cheese fries were great. If I were reviewing food alone, this would be a positive review. But service and customer experience matter — and this place failed badly on both. The person taking orders — one of two more mature women at the counter — was visibly frustrated with customers. If you weren’t already familiar with their specific ordering system (combo first, drink next, THEN any modifications), you were met with attitude and impatience. Asking if you could substitute regular fries for chili cheese fries was treated as an annoyance. No effort to guide new customers, no patience, just outright rudeness. Then the staff took turns shouting order numbers into the speakers and getting more irritated when people didn’t hear them. This was during all the event music, noise, and people having a good time — yet instead of adjusting to the environment, they just got louder and more aggressive. It created a stressful, chaotic atmosphere that made eating there unpleasant. To top it off, they charge $0.25 to use the restroom — a petty and unwelcoming policy, especially on a high-traffic day when they were clearly benefiting from the event turnout. I’m surprised they didn’t charge for squares of TP. Here’s the real issue: If you’re going to stay open during a major event like CicLAvia, you need to be ready. That means bringing in your full staff, paying overtime, and putting your most capable and welcoming employees at the front. If that’s too much to manage, then don’t open that day. The alternative — staying open underprepared, visibly overwhelmed, and actively rude to paying customers — isn’t acceptable. If you can’t provide basic hospitality and keep your operation running smoothly, you should take the day off. And maybe consider a display system that shows ready orders and direct guest to watch that. People chose to support this local business over a chain, and instead were met with disorganization, hostility, and poor service. The food may have been good, but the experience ensures I won’t be back. (The video doesn’t show the worst of the yelling but gives you an idea of the experience.)

After visiting my mom at White Memorial Hospital I was very hungry and hunger for a burger or pastrami to keep this hungry monster content. I decided to go to Jim's Burger not far from the hospital it's on State and first St and it also walking distance from Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights. I walk into the restaurant they lot's of special deals display outside the restaurant. I decided order the Pastrami Madness deal it comes with Pastrami chili cheese fries and a large drink. Couple minutes later my meal was ready pick up then find a seat and take a bite of it. I open the container the Pastrami look so good and the chili cheese fries amazing good. I took a bite of the Pastrami sandwich incredible good the meat was very tender and juicy that's how I like it tender and juicy with great flavors wirh mustard and pickles and bread was so soft I really enjoy it. The chili cheese fries was very good the chili smother the crisy fries was so good. The meal comes with a big drink with Pastrami Madness. I need to come again and try out different items.

A good ole neighborhood diner. Serves typical fast comfort food (such as burgers, fries, etc.) yet a few other options like typical Mexican dishes are also served. There are also options for the healthy conscious eater such as salads. We ordered burgers and fries and they came out and tasted as expected. Yummy. Seating options available indoors and outside. Indoor dining area was rather clean. Improvement could be made to the restroom facility. Food purchases are only made inside. I like how the food preparation and cooking is able to be observed while eating outside through the large windows. It's quite fun eating outside as it can be rather peaceful. There is a free parking lot next to the restaurant yet lighting needs to improve. It's one of those parking lots (rather small) that makes you feel to double check to lock your doors. Service is very friendly and kind.

Good food, good prices. It stops there! Been a customer forever and today after all these years i tried making a call at 10pm and some guy answered said he was not going to take my order because some people order and dnt pick up. Ok i understand that, bur then i asked for an employee that knows i always order over the phone and always pick up my food and she told me they were unable to process my order at this time through the phone! Really!!!????? I understand for a customer u dnt know but someone you know has been a customer for like 20 yrs and never have i called and not pick up an order and tell me they can't make it... thats BS. then i end up going to make my order in person and that little short guy was rude!!! The employee I know foe yrs didn't even look at me . They've just lost a customer and im sure if they keep giving that same customer service with customers like me that have been ordering by phone for years they will loose more.... to make it clear not all employees are rude. Some r real nice but thoae are usually the ones who work...
