2022.04-26/TUE_1640: THE ONLY pizza I can eat. I'm highly allergic to tomatoes and I'm gluten intolerant but how is it that I can have Joe Peeps' pizza???!!!
I love the staff here and the music is always the greatest, too! They're always smiling and the ambiance is always the same when we visit! Today was great because I was able to order a pizza for take away and pick it up. So it was awesome to see the wonderful staff that makes the incredible food and who I've spoken to on the phone as well. We have to order delivery must of the time because if we leave the house, we won't have parking! It was a treat to meet and see everyone in action!
Anyway, the food quality is insane here. I can't say that enough. I have no allergic reactions to their pizza sauce and dough! This means the ingredients are of excellent quality. The amount of toppings on the pizza is always the perfect amount and the ingredients are always fresh! I usually buy a container of the pizza sauce so I can use it to cook something at home. That's how much I love their sauce. I'm not allergic. What is it?! Homegrown tomatoes?
The Steak Sandwich....oh, dear heavenly Father... wow. I can honestly say that this is the ONLY place that has the closest thing on the menu that tastes just like a Philly Cheesesteak. Oh, what in the world is this??!! We had gotten a large Steak sandwich and added cheese. I couldn't even take a bite, the sandwich was so huge. Not only was this a behemoth of a sandwich, the steak...the steak was not Steak Ums meat. It was thinly sliced, tender steak. What the heck. The cheese was stringy and melted perfectly throughout the sandwich and there were onions and green peppers just buried in there. The bread...SO soft and it was not thick and dense at all. The bread soaked up the drippings of the steak. How?! It WILL melt in your mouth!
You definitely will NOT be disappointed. If you want to dine in and have a slice, you can! They sell them by the slice! You don't have to buy a whole pie!
The entrance is located behind the store in the parking lot. How great. They have their own parking! You have to see the interior because you'll see celebrities that have visited as well as the shipping tickets for pizza that have been sent overnight to other states! I swear in 2011, I saw a shipping ticket for one that went to my hometown in Virginia Beach, Virginia!!! Now there are more! There's Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio, too. I would do the same if I had to move away for a special treat!!
Joe Peeps is definitely a place worth visiting if you happen to be in town!

January/2022: I have been here countless of times and I cannot believe I've never done any reviews. Most of my reviews were done on Yelp! First things first - sadly, I'm highly allergic to tomatoes and for some reason, I am able to eat Joe Peeps' pizza sauce and I can also have their baked Ziti, too. Anything with their sauce, I'm able to eat without any kind of allergic reaction. This tells me that they're using quality ingredients and/or their tomato sauces are cooked for hours and it removes the protein in the tomatoes that I'm allergic to - who knows.
Anyway, each time we've ordered from Joe Peeps, the food quality had always been outstanding and plentiful. We love the two types of crusts available for there pizza. You have the "Blue Collar" which is more of a thinner New York style crust and the "5,969 Calorie" style pizza is a thicker crust. We've tried both and both are FANTASTIC. You can't go wrong with whatever size pizza you get because where it's either style, one slice is as big as your face! Their Baked Ziti is delicious as well as their sandwiches, too. Their portions are incredible.
The best part of Joe Peeps is that you can purchase their dough and their sauces so you can make your own dishes at home! I do this since I have a nasty...

TIME TO POST THIS REVIEW. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY.
While sweet, well-meaning - the management is NOT honorable. He will tell you 'About 30 minutes' or 'About an hour'... and really they have ONE DRIVER so you MIGHT be stuck like I was 3 weeks ago calling in AN HOUR AND A HALF later asking where the heck is your dinner.
The answer? "Oh, yeah, sorry... but the driver is JUST LEAVING'.
I'm sorry- - WHAT? He hadn't even left yet.
Then, we have tonight. I live about 8 blocks from this location and during nights I have to work late, have (prior to covid) enjoyed order a few sodas and desert.
I ordered at 9:06 PM. One slice of cake, 4 diet cokes. NO COOKING. This requires about 2 minutes to put together, if that.
By 9:52 PM - NO DELIVERY. Again - it was sodas and one slice of cake. I live 8 minutes away.
Get the manager - he puts me on hold and then comes back:
"Yeah, sorry bout that, but he just got back... but he's gonna leave now..." ????!!!
MANAGEMENT / OWNERSHIP: if you CAN'T DELIVER 4 cans of soda 8 blocks away - DON'T LIE. Say straight up: Sorry, it'll be over an hour.
And DEFINITELY don't give attitude when the Customer who has been loyal thru multiple other delivery screw ups finally expresses exasperation that YOU as a business are not honorable / loyal.
Thank you. Try Dominos or better yet - Mulberry Street - better food, same prices, and while they do charge a bit more for soda =) - WORTH IT to get something on time and being treated with respect.
Thank you.
NOTE: After I posted my review - within SECONDS the manager was calling my phone. Two calls in 1 minute. Fascinating how they couldn't be bothered to remember my order for 45 minutes, yet after a truthful review, managed to find my phone number.
The number of mistakes over the past year led to an ongoing slew of replacing beverages (they kept delivering the wrong sodas), or delivering the food completely mashed (I was fond of their cake slices, which are grossly overpriced - $4.50 plus $3.00 delivery fee plus tax PLUS TIP for a small slice of cake. Not a bargain.) - yet the drivers would hand over the small box of cake completely mashed under cans of soda or squashed to one side. Sorry but for $6.00 all in - not okay. So we went thru about 8 rounds re-deliveries, small credits for missing soda, destroyed cake. Somehow after all this, we then wound up with 3 rounds of absurdly late / un deliveries.
All this does NOT entitle a business struggling to find staff to promise delivery times, not keep their word, and then be rude or defend bad behavior. It should in an ideal world be the opposite: they should strive to be honest with loyal customers to show all the dozens of 'I'm sorry''s were actually sincere, and not more untruthfulness.
And the prices in this already-recession-riddled economy! $24.00 for a tiny 12" cheese pizza that's really $35 by the time you've paid delivery fee, tax, and...
Read moreWhen I lived in the Valley, I could walk there (and often did!) from my apartment. This place is one of the best kept secrets in North Hollywood, which is fine by me because it means that it's never been crowded and that, ultimately, there will be more pizza for me. Let me let you in on a little something: I love pizza. I love it. I love everything about it. The subtleties of the crust, the right balance of the distribution of cheese, the artfulness of the sauce. This place does NY-style pizza ohh so right. The service is friendly and relatively fast. Sometimes the owner can be a little prickly (he refused me, a loyal and constant patron (!), the 10% cash discount with my frequent flyer card because I only had a debit card), but my advice is to forget about him and focus on how amazing that first slice is going to taste in your mouth. They have an extensive menu ranging from meatball subs to salads to baked ziti, sausage, plus a lot more. Do yourself a favor and order the "Blue Collar Pizza"- yes, it's light on the toppings but don't fret because they are very generous and let's face it, you don't need any extra toppings any way... I love the fact that you can choose unconventional toppings like garlic, artichoke hearts, turkey-canadian bacon, and three different kinds of mushrooms (also try the sliced meatballs!). Everything is made IN-HOUSE and the sauce is so authentically-yummy that you'd think that someone's grandma recently rolled up to drop off a freshly-made batch. Do yourself another favor and get a side of the marinara to dip your slices in, but be careful because it's deliciousness just might rock your socks off. During peak hours, be willing to wait to get your pizza on, but if you call ahead you should be good to go. Their late-night hours are perfect for a pre-midnight slice and while you're waiting, you can snicker at the customer-penned graffiti on the walls or admire the B-rate celebrity headshots (is that Elijah Woods?) near the cash register.
Little known Joe Peeps fact: They use no chemicals and no sugar in their food!
Stop what you are doing now and go get some pizza...
