DISCRIMINATORY Practices!!!

Ok I had to edit my original review. You know you've been eating at a restaurant too long when they are comfortable telling you no for simple ask's. Ok I've been eating here since 2021. The food is not great but its better than just ok. Having said that... the reason I edited my initial review was because they showed me just how important my business really was. And that's not very important at all. They did something so egregiously narrow minded and irrational, so blindly unnecessary that it turned me TH off and it left me puzzled and pissed that I have been patronizing them at all.

So simply put.... I usually get the chicken tacos or steak Enchiladas and most often its shredded chicken tacos. What I noticed about the shredded chicken is that is has no flavor, no taste at all, just bland. To the point you have to dilute it with ton's of sauce to make it taste better. Ok, so I found out they have grilled chicken hooray!! I should have been getting that all along.

I found this out because I tried the chicken enchiladas one day and they said I could get grilled chicken. I was like really? great, lets do grilled chicken. Can't lie that was much better than the boring bland shredded chicken.

So I was ok until the manager told me I cannot replace shredded chicken on my Tacos with grilled chicken, even if I paid for it. WHAT? I'm thinking you're in the business of selling food to make money who TF cares, if you up charge a bit for grilled chicken, I'm cool with that. They basically told me and they rather enjoyed doing so, just flat out no way would they ever make me a taco with grilled chicken. The people said they wouldn't even sell it to me separately, knowing I would put it in my Taco. What this behavior showed me is that they are very discriminatory. I just went to chipotle and called it day. But Imagine a restaurant turning down good money for no reason. Maybe the fact of who I was had a little to do with it. It definitely felt like discrimination. What else could be the reason for not just charging me more for Grilled chicken. You get more money and you keep a satisfied customer. Instead they turn down money and insult the customer. Had I known they had discriminatory practices I would have never patronized them up to this point. be careful just cause they take your money DOES NOT MEAN THEY LIKE YOUR KIND. I wont ever be back and neither will my co workers Latino co workers who felt so bad they were embarrassed they treated me this way. 2024 Racism...

update Came back a 2nd time, Feb 2023, but I think something was off this time.

There are definitely other things on the menu that I still need to try. But for now, I think their nachos lost a point with me.

We specifically came in for the nachos. I don't know why, but I thought their nachos were fresh fried tortilla chips. After getting this new batch of nachos February 2023, it seems like they're using prepackaged chips. I was kind of disappointed, only because they seem just a little slightly stale. Something also changed with their beans that they put on top of the nachos. I think this time around, seems like they were refried beans, with maybe just a little bit too much lard. If you let the nachos sit too long, the lard and fattiness of the refried beans just gets a little awkward to the palate.

Originally I had mentioned that this place was like going to Las Fuentes up by Vanowen near Reseda and the like. I can't really say that anymore. It really is two different restaurants, and two different experiences.

Oct 2022: If you decide to eat inside, you get that old school, rustic Hacienda vibe. Love the service, love the food. There's decent parking out front. They do use real cheese on the nachos! Thank...

This restaurant is completely appalling. From the moment you walk in everything is wrong with this restaurant; when you walk in you are met with an excruciatingly slow line full of indecisive people. Once you get past this horrible experience, you are faced with the obstacle of trying to find a table which I say usually takes 5-8 minutes. What also bothered me was the poor selection of Salsas at their makeshift salsa bar in the middle of a busy corridor. Once you get your food... it is revolting no matter what you order. But what is the most revolting is the disgusting music selection which makes you feel like getting up from your table and going to the Burger King across the street. This restaurant is the definition of a two star Mexican grill in the suburbs of Los Angeles. If you are driving on the 101 don’t even consider taking that off ramp because it is a complete waste of time, money, and taste buds. All this would be fine if they didn’t charge you exuberant amounts of money for what is microwaved food. There is also a corner of the restaurant that feels like you’re eating in a 1940’s...

8$ MARGARITAS (poured in a big glass that will make your smile last) Great Mexican place in Sherman oaks. Every other Mexican restaurant in Sherman oaks is overpriced and too fancy. I like my Mexican food because it's plentiful and tasty and well priced. Daisy just opened up on Ventura blvd.... Way too expensive when you're trying to enjoy Mexican food and get margaritas. Come to La Fogata THREE MINUTES DOWN THE STREET instead and enjoy your big plate meals without emptying your wallet. Outdoor and indoor seating! YOUR CHOICE. Great service from staff. Food service was fast! Parking is small but you can park across the street at the park super close (unlike like any restaurant on Ventura bld where you struggle to park and people yell at each other. Music isn't too loud. Heat lamps outside for when it's cold. Inside has AC lots of food options and all kinds of salsa and good margarita and beer options
