I'm pretty disappointed that I have to give such a low rating because I was so excited to finally try Le Coupe but the food was just not a hit with us.
We stopped by Friday around 1pm and the place was dead, sad to see that so I hope it was just off-hours. Cashier was friendly at least and customer service overall was great.
We ordered the chicken sandwich, a side of potato salad, and asked for the honey mustard on the side as well as an extra side sauce of the coup sauce, totaling about $24.
The cashier said it would take about 15 minutes and that was fine because we don't mind waiting for fresh food. It came out and the plate looked so damn good, looks can definitely be deceiving though.
We first tried the potato salad and really enjoyed it. It wasn't overpowering or unbalanced with one flavor or another, it was creamy and chunky and had great fresh taste.
The sauces were just average. The coupe sauce tastes like Chick Fil A sauce and the honey mustard was a bit sour.
As for the sandwich, it's a bit confusing what was supposed to happen here. The bread is super small compared to the chicken thigh which has more batter than meat. And since the skin is left on, you get bites of chewy fatty skin. It was definitely juicy meat but not very flavorful. As for the batter, the crunch was fantastic, but the sauce is way too sweet and almost tastes like orange chicken in a weird way. I'm not sure if the chili was forgotten in this batch of chili honey but there was no spice or heat or kick at all. It was almost like eating candied chicken batter. The coleslaw was bland and offered no contrast of flavor while the pickles were too few...
Read moreI heard about this place on Youtube, and was intensely curious about it. The chicken sandwich looked fantastic. I don’t often get a chance to drive to LA, but a friend invited me to a screening at Paramount Studios, which is nearby, so I rode with him, and we went together.
I ordered the sandwich and the mac and cheese. First, the sandwich: The bun is nicely toasted, and holds up well as you eat the sandwich. The piece of chicken is BIG. It’s wonderfully crisp and crunchy on the outside, and it stays that way till the last bite. It’s covered with a spicy honey sauce. It’s delicious. The chicken is tender and juicy inside. It’s all perfectly seasoned. The chicken has coleslaw on it that’s the best, most interesting I’ve ever tasted. What makes it special is the lemony taste, and I don’t just mean a squirt of lemon juice, but lemon zest as well. Bright and delicious.
I’ve said in another Google review that Langer’s #19 is the best sandwich I’ve ever tasted, but I have to say, this is the first time I’ve ever tasted a sandwich that seriously gives the Langer’s a run for its money. It’s outstanding. I highly recommend it.
The mac and cheese is also outstanding, probably the best I’ve ever tasted. Great cheese flavor. What sets it apart for me is that the pasta isn’t cooked to a creamy mushiness, but still has al dente texture to it. It’s covered with buttered bread crumbs. Yummy.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and more than willing to talk about the food and how it’s made.

Entering Le Coup in Los Angeles, you’re immediately struck by an inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The star of the show, their Fried Chicken Sandwich, is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. The chicken, encased in a light, crispy batter, reveals a subtle yet tantalizing spice that dances on the palate. This gentle heat is masterfully balanced with a drizzle of honey, creating a delightful harmony of sweet and spicy. The chicken itself is exquisitely juicy, ensuring each bite is rich in flavor and texture.
What elevates this sandwich to five-star status is the thoughtful composition of each component. The traditional lettuce is replaced with a delectable coleslaw, adding a creamy crunch that complements the chicken’s spice. This coleslaw is not just an afterthought; it’s a blend of crisp vegetables, bound by a dressing that’s both light and flavorful, enhancing the overall experience. The brioche bun, soft and slightly sweet, is the perfect canvas for these bold flavors, while the side of expertly seasoned, corn ribs completes the meal. Le Coup’s commitment to a perfect balance of flavors and textures in their Fried Chicken Sandwich makes it a standout in the LA food scene. This is more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of taste that leaves a...
