I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past year. It was incredible. The hospitality, cleanliness, all incredible. However, this stay was very different. The associate who checked me in made me feel like a burden. I arrived early and made it very clear I did not expect an early check in nor did I want to be charged for an early check in fee. Since this is a boutique hotel there is not a traditional waiting room but there is a lounge. I asked to wait in the lounge until my room is ready at 3:00 pm. When I arrived I was immediately treated like a burden. First I had to wait on Santa Monica blvd for 15+ minutes before someone noticed I had texted in and let them know I was there. When someone finally received my message they made an excuse about how my message must have not come through on their end. I had multiple bags of luggage and as a female traveling alone I felt very unsafe waiting outside. Once I was finally checked in the female associate complained the entire time about having to assist with my bags. They have no elevator so it was only stairs. This is a different associate than has assisted me in the past so I’m not sure if they’re under new management or this is a new hire. She kept making comments about how heavy my bags were and made me feel embarrassed for simply existing.
Once I finally arrived to my room, I was exhausted from a stressful day of travel. When I laid down I noticed the pillows had a very interesting smell but I disregarded this and eventually the smell went away. The next day I had dropped an item under one of the hotel chairs and went to retrieve it. Upon moving the chair it was DISGUSTING. Clearly, this area had been completely untouched by the cleaners. Dust, crumbs, zip ties?? were under the chair. Gross. When I wore socks my feet were completely black after a few minutes. When you shower, the smell of sewage is extremely prominent. I had to make a comment to my boyfriend that….the smell wasn’t me. I would let all of this go if it wasn’t for the FIFTY dollar change on my invoice for “damaged towels” that they could not provide evidence of?? I travel for work and I have for many years. Never in my life have I been charged for something like this. Insane. I do not wear excessive make up so I can’t imagine what this could possibly be. It seems not only is this hotel going down in quality but it is clearly desperate for money. As someone who loved this place and recommended it to so many friends and family, do yourself a favor and book...

Check in info was sent in advance and really clear, but we were met by a member of staff that made it even easier.
We stayed in Room 11 with a view of the Hollywood sign & Griffith Observatory. Epic.
We bought vinyl from Amoeba in Hollywood and could play them in the hotel room on the Cambridge record player. We have never had this at a hotel before. So cool.
Alexa, Audio & Apple TV systems all linked. Great set up.
A curated vinyl album was placed on the bed as a gift to take home. We love it!
A couple of free drinks tokens was a nice touch. I kept mine as a souvenir of the stay.
Gig downstairs was JJUUJJUU and tickets were all taken. We skipped the line and got in for free as guests. Felt like true VIPs.
The ability to text/WhatsApp staff for service is a great idea!
Great IPA & Cider at the bar.
Big fridge & coffee making facilities in the room made the stay feel like home.
Tony’s liquor across the road looks small, but is a TARDIS with a huge selection of chilled local craft ales & ciders. If you need a second hand hoover, they are available on the sidewalk. Seriously.
Also a 7-Eleven opposite for all your standard stuff.
Forever Hollywood Cemetery is within walking distance with a couple of the Ramones in residence. Worth a visit. Really cool place with palm trees and peacocks to chill out after a full on night.
Sassafras Saloon and The Three Clubs are a short hop from the hotel. Both had live acts playing and the staff / locals were really friendly and welcoming.
Room 5 is a green room for touring bands on gig days and guests the rest of the time to chill in. We used it after check out to get our heads straight & order a Lyft to the airport.

Read moreSo, picture this: we’re staying in a boutique hotel above a nightclub and cocktail bar, and from the jump, they hit us with, “Yo, it’s gonna get loud.” And we were like, “Yeah, we’re here for that!” The upfront communication was solid, and the door code was sent via message and email, which made getting in almost easy. There was a tiny hiccup when the code didn’t work at first, but no worries—someone at the bar came through and saved the day.
Walking up the stairs, the hotel’s interior was a whole vibe. I’m talking beautiful decor, but what really hit were the pop art paintings that were everywhere. That bed? Super comfortable. The pillows? Like laying on clouds. Plus, they hand you a free vinyl record and two free drink tokens for the bar downstairs. And you know we used them!
Fast forward to midnight, and yeah, the room was rattling with the music from the club below. But who cares? We were about to cash in those drink tokens. Our bartender? From Texas (shoutout to home), and she mixed up some agave drinks that were straight-up fire. The next day, we chilled in their lounge with more vinyl records, a Nespresso coffee machine, and David Bowie spinning on their record player connected to a Sonos speaker. Honestly, we didn’t want to leave.
The not-so-good: Leaving the rental a block away in a sketchy parking lot wasn’t the move. The car was fine, but the vibe walking back at night? A little questionable. Next time, we’ll take their advice and go with ride-sharing.
But trust me, we’ll be back. This spot’s got the right...
