Review update: Fonda Antioqueña always delivers. Today I wanted something different so I ordered the most incredible dish. It’s better than the Bandeja Paisa even. It’s called Sobrebarriga al Horno I think. It’s incredibly seasoned and low-fat. It’s basically cooked in an oven. It includes an arepa, plantain, potato, some veggies and beans and rice. God I love their rice! Im from Tierra caliente and it’s just like my mom’s white rice! Perfect yucca and plantains! Everything is so good.
The server was this traditional Latino gentleman type. Very polite but he can be uptight at times. Let’s just say there’s a bit of Latino friction going on. He does a really great job until he gets uptight lol. The servers work well as a team. The youngest server is amazing! Great eye contact and anticipation.
I highly recommend this place! Great food and typical music!
I’ve been here a handful of times and it always delivers. Each time I have ordered a platter that features several popular dishes from Colombia. It has an arepa, fried plantains, rice, beans, chicharron, Colombian chorizo and carne asada. It is best to share it because it has a lot of food. I was so hungry I forgot to snap a pic but I did get a pic of my guanabana drink. The atmosphere is nice. They play lively tropical music.

Read moreFirstly, finding parking is pretty hard. Their lot is really small, so good luck finding some on the street. The food was actually good, though. I did order my churrasco well done, and it was more of a medium well, but what can you do. Our waitress was also really attentive. The issue was at the end of our meal. My brother picked up the check. Firstly, they automatically charge you for a tip if your party is 5 or more. Ok, some big parties don't like to leave big tips. I get it, but it was a big automatic tip. The real problem was the charge to the card. Our bill with the tip was one amount. The amount that was charged was nearly $40 dollars more. When we confronted the staff about it, one of the ladies said that the charge was made and that they couldn't do anything about it now. She seemed very nervous, too. Was it because she knew she got caught or because she doesn't like confrontation, who knows? We didn't want to have to deal with it anymore, so we left. I doubt they would have refunded us even if we did put up a fight. Obviously, never going back there if they so boldly do that to their customers and then deny that they did it. If you go here, please double-check that they charge you the correct amount before leaving...
Read moreI've visited my fair share of Colombian restaurants when traveling to cities that have these restaurants, and this one has been among the best.
It's often said that if the business is full of people from the same country, that is the place to eat, and this was packed full of Colombian people. This restaurant looks to be so popular that I actually had to wait close to an hour to get a table, which I didn't really mind.
They unfortunately do not serve ajiaco, which I was looking forward to from my past experiences, but the sancocho de res did not disappoint. The soup was thick, incredibly savory, and very warm and filling. The Lulo juice (I think) was delicious as well.
The restaurant itself is small, but very homey and welcoming, full of Colombian culture. The atmosphere of the restaurant was noisy and filled with the sensation of people really enjoying their experience here. The staff were just as welcoming and warm as the restaurant.
Of you live/visit in the LA area and feel like giving Colombian cuisine a try, this is the place to be, you will not be disappointed and will leave full of appreciation for an underrated and...
