Staff and poor management ruined our Mother's Day dinner.
Restaurant ran out of food, because of poor planning on Mother's Day. My mother only eats fish for meat. As a result, we had their terrible and overpriced and bland $28-pasta. Not recommended.
The waiter did not inform the fish was not available. Because he was slow, someone else ordered the last one.
Don't order this. Definitely not worth the money.
We also ordered the $18-burger. I don't know what everyone is raving out. It's not that a burger can't be worth that cost. But did they add truffles? A wonderful cheese? Handmade aioli?
Nope. Overpriced and average burger as well.
In general, the waiter did a bad job, by not being attentive to our needs - such as not bringing out water or cleaning our table or asking what else was required.
The waiter and onsite manager knew we were unhappy, and showed poor professionalism by not considering that this was a special occasion, Mother's Day, for us..
On the plus side:
The Brussel sprouts and bread are good. I do give them that.
They gave us $10 off the dessert, but for my palate, it was sickly sweet. My guest thought it was reasonable.
Although the onsite manager gave us the $10 dessert, I don't think she understood how this was a special occasion that was ruined by the Chef and Manager's poor planning and service.
The question is: Would they want all this to happen to them for Mother's Day.
I complained to the Chef and owner, Sean, who was defensive, unsympathetic, and only offered drinks to come back. I tried several times, but he lacks customer service orientation and is generally very stubborn and has an over-inflated view of his food.
There was no sense of taking personal responsibility or ownership for the problems, such as poor planning and poor service and poor training.
Sean also has problems with knowing how important special occasions are for people and making things right with people. In short, his values reflect greed, as he would rather put money above relationships.
Food here is overpriced and generally not very good. (Perhaps, it was a busy day, but it's still part of professionalism to plan and adjust for such times.)
Absolutely, not recommended. Save your money and go...
Read moreOther than my insistence on calling this place "sexy beast" instead of "little beast" - this place really won me over.
First timers = keep an eye out for their specials ... we got the cheese and charcuterie boards and the pasta Carbonara from there this time around.
What we had:
Cheese Board: A nice selection of cheeses, along with honey and tangerine on the site. I'm used to a few more extras on my cheese boards (different nuts, etc.) but this was still really nice.
Charcuterie Board: A decent helping, and well cut + mustard (yum). Between the two, the cheese board wins, but this wasn't disappointing at all.
Mussels & Fries: I'm not always huge on mussels, but there were really flavorful. The fries are good too, but they come in a very small container, so don't plan on getting full off of them.
Brussel Sprouts: The sprouts themselves were delicious. The potato chips on top made no sense, but no biggy - just move them on over.
The Little Beast Burger: Simple, but still very good. The Little Beast Burger was made really well (and the meat wasn't overdone #score).
Pasta Carbonara: I mean ... thick slices of bacon and a creamy carbonara sauce, what more do i need to say???
DESSERTS: We had the chocolate pudding, the bread pudding and the special (a persimmon cake with ice cream) - the persimmon took the cake (#sopunny) but the others were good too. The chocolate is very rich, so prep yo'self.
WINE: We took our own bottles. Corkage fee is $18 per bottle (slightly more than you'd pay elsewhere).
That's about it...wasn't it enough!?!?!?! I'd definitely recommend this place - great ambiance too & the staff is super...
Read moreLittle Beast knocks it out of the park every time. Me and my fiancée and friends have been coming here for special occasions for years. You can literally order blind, everything is delicious from the appetizers to the entrees and the cocktails kill. Plus the service here is not just nice and professional and prompt, but warm and inviting. They treat you so so nicely here. Keep it up beasties. ❤️
UPDATE: I actually just wanted to add, on the service thing, like, I don't think Little Beast even needs any additional "good press" they're doing fine. But, there's "good service", then there's "Perfect Service" and then there's Little Beast service. What I mean is, you can go to like Nobu or something and get 5-star, super punctual, super polite, professional service. But you can go to Little Beast and get service that is somehow even more perfect. The people that work there are beyond nice. They are polite and service the customers with somehow this naturally generated level of ACTUAL care. When I go there, I feel like they are just staffed up with genuinely kind caring people. They will give you tips, ask questions, and seem like sincerely excited for you to have a good time, to try out the things they recommend. I don't know who's doing the hiring there, but kudos to you, person. And the staff themselves, I know you guys and gals rotate in and out, but if you currently or have ever worked at Little Beast,...
