As a coffee nerd well down the Rabbit Hole of Specialty Coffee, I love this place!
All the coffees I have had here are significantly above average, the quality is impressive but the consistency is really something special. Even at very good coffee places, getting consistently good drinks is usually a struggle. This place has become my go to spot, and I am very happy that it is a convenient location for me.
I read the other reviews and saw people commenting on sour coffee. Most of the flavor compounds in coffee are acidic compounds. Coffees that tend to have high complexity/nuance flavors therefore also tend to have high perceived acidity in the coffee. These acidic flavor compounds are generally more perceptible in light roast coffees resulting in high end coffee places usually focusing on light roast coffees that tend to have high perceived acidity. Recently, There is more of a push for high end coffee places to make high quality medium and dark roast coffees available to people who do not like high perceived acidity in...
Read moreIt all started with the peculiar design of the cup that got me hooked and triggered my curiosity to pay the coffee shop a visit. Yep, that skeleton on the green cup. The cute coffee shop was located right at the intersection between Inglewood and Culver Boulevard, two busy roads making it bit tricky to find parking. The place was cozy and pretty quiet other than the background music, as most guests were on their own gadgets. It was pretty busy throughout the day even on weekday, I guess with the location being strategic.
The service was swift and the barista was super friendly. I tried their Dolly, which was basically latte with Demerara sugar. I would say their coffee was pretty strong and tad acidic, so probably would suit those loving that kind of notes for their cup of joe. I would say it's pretty decent, despite wouldn't call it...
Read moreWent to this place twice. First time wasn’t that bad. The coffee was average. The second time was disappointing. My boyfriend ordered for both of us and waited for the coffee and matcha to get ready, leaned on the counter. He is the spectrum so can get pretty “hypnotized” at watching people. He waited patiently and when the barista handled him the cups, she told him that it would have been better if “he sat down the next time, to avoid awkwardness”. Too bad that there won’t be a “next time”, because he was mortified. I was shocked because I was observing from outside, and felt like everything was ok on both parts. I get that a woman can feel threatened by a male presence, but I also feel like this was not the case. I rarely leave such bad reviews, but things like this make my blood boil. Things like this make businesses...
