Metro Balderas Restaurant — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Food is okay. Service is not. The cashier is very lazy and gives you what he wants, not what you pay for. Today I ordered a eskimo and at first he just made a face, debating on whether to do it or not I guess. Yesterday I came and he didn't want to do it and today he made a face, it's that face you make when your mom asks you to do something and you don't want to but you do it anyway. Since he didn't want to do it yesterday, I ordered a soda. We got the food and he didn't give me my soda until I reminded him that I ordered it. I honestly don't really like the food here but my mom does so she ordered the tacos de surtida and I got an Eskimo de Chocolate. I then left to order a torta de pollo from El Jerez, waited, got my order, sat down, and then came back to El Metro Balderas where my mom was eating but my Eskimo was still not ready. When I asked my mom for my Eskimo, she said that when she got her food, she asked for it and he hadn't even started on it. I still had to sit there and wait to get it but when I got it, it didn't even taste like chocolate, it was mixed with strawberry and vanilla. I just wanted chocolate. If I had wanted it mixed, I would have asked for it mixed. Even in my wait here, multiple people have reminded him of their sodas which shouldn't even take long since he doesn't make them. I randomly decided to try this restaurant. I'm not familiar with this side of the Valley, but since I was walking down Van Nuys Blvd and starving... I took a chance.

Vegetarian options are very limited. This place might be a meat eater's heaven. I explained my dilemma to the cashier and she was helpful, but that's where the positivity ends.

The salsa bar was very minimal; two reds and one green salsa. None of which was spicy or flavorful. The wait time was way too long, especially for the the size of the burrito I received. Even though I asked for a meatless burrito, they could have filled the space with some extra lettuce or something.
