This was such a great find! So glad to have found this charcoal bbq spot which is super rare these days.

Ambiance: old school kbbq feel. I liked that even though this is a charcoal bbq spot, my clothes didn’t smell like kbbq afterwards.

Food: In addition to all the usual kbbq items, they have duck and eel on the menu!! We tried their ribeye and sliced duck this time. They were both fresh and great quality. Ribeye was juicy and not too fatty. I surprisingly really liked the sliced duck much more than I thought I would. It’s leaner than beef or pork but still really flavorful. Their soybean stew and side dishes were delicious too! My favorite was the shiitake mushroom.

Service: Best service I had at a restaurant in awhile. They patiently answered all my questions about the menu (and I asked about every single one lol) and cooked the meat for us so we could enjoy our meal. They were also kind enough to cook my husband’s duck on a separate grill (away from my ribeye cuz my husband doesn’t eat beef). Just super nice people.

Looking forward to the next visit. Gonna try their black angus AAA...

I recently had dinner Mong TAN with a friend, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The quality of the meat was absolutely outstanding—so fresh, tender, and full of flavor. Every bite reminded me why Korean BBQ is such a special experience, and MongTan takes it to another level.

But what really made the night unforgettable was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. At one point, I accidentally burned my hand while eating and grabbed the metal salad bowl from the wrong side. Before I could even react, the team was right there with ice, ointment, and genuine concern, making sure I was comfortable and taken care of. It wasn’t just good service—it felt like true hospitality and kindness.

We left full, happy, and already talking about when we could come back. Between the incredible food and the personal attention from the staff, MongTan has definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite places to eat. I can’t wait for...

Wow, I was surprised to visit 'Mongtan' without much expectation tonight. What a proper Korean barbecue place that not only shows the quality of meat but also Korean charcoal, which is good enough to distinguish at a glance, and how to grill meat that varies depending on the menu. The staff was friendly and all handled the food like a professional, and the price was reasonable. As a Korean, I highly recommend this place if you want to know the true Korean style, not only for those who want to taste Korean barbecue for the first time, but also for those who have experienced it many times. One bad thing is that the smoke fills the restaurant when grilling the marinated meat at the end. ^^;; But among the countless Korean restaurants, I bet this is a place worth visiting. It doesn't look so busy at the moment because it's not been long since it opened, but I have no doubt there will be a long waiting time soon. LA 한복판 테이블에서 숯불로 (그것도 좋은 숯으로) 석쇠에 불고기를 구워주는 곳이라니요....
