I will never overlook service for food. I called the place in advance about their dog friendly policy and they told me I'd have to sit by the entrance of the restaurant. When I arrived, the waiter (has a beard) immediately told me my dog was not allowed. I told him what I was told. He backed off. I asked the other waitress about the other dogs and mentioned mine was a service dog and she said it was okay. Being further from the door, waitstaff were so absent, I'd have to tie my dog up or approach the waiter for any service, additions, and the check. Yes, they have a counter and waitstaff. This continued when I did not come with my dog but brought friends. The further from the kitchen, the worse the service. I arrived today and the same bearded jerk handed me a menu and said he would need to ask me to leave if I could not present papers for my dog. I live down the street but I was there for a quick breakfast before heading on to other errands. My dog has papers and tags but the papers werent' with me. It's discriminatory because it's always the same guy. I have reviewed them positively, always tipped high, and overlooked their slow service to the disappointed experience of my friends for the food but it's not worth it. The other staff said the manager was out, then, she said there was no manager and I wonder if she made up the name Derek Chen. I was humiliated and to have to leave today. Other people with dogs are not questioned, asked to provide proof and MAYBE get better service? I can't support this to anyone and will use this cafe's name in all the customer service classes I teach online and throughout the LA area and sites I visit. Never overlook service. You deserve decency...
Read moreI stopped at this place with my friend after hiking and we wanted to get breakfast. This is such a cute little cafe and it's a combination of Japanese and French. There were so many tempting menu items to choose from that it's hard to decide when you want to order everything.
The cafe is inside a shopping center and there's a small parking lot. It can get a little hectic to find parking but there's street parking too. The cafe is on the left side when you're coming through the driveway entrance. The inside is clean and well kept. The server was very friendly and attentive. She brought us water with lemon and refilled our drinks very often.
I ordered the breakfast quesadilla which includes scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado, mushrooms, mozzarella, and pico de gallo. I didn't want it with mushrooms and it was good that they took those off. The quesadilla was really good. The avocado was fresh, and the food arrived hot and not cold. It was a complete breakfast.
The drink I ordered was the blue ocean lemonade. It caught my attention because of the name. It was regular lemonade with blue dye in it. It was good but nothing major.
Overall, the cafe is cute and there's lots of food items that are a must-try. I definitively want to go back to try...
Read moreI don't get the hype.
I had eggs benedict, two danishes (chocolate banana and peach) and potatoes on the side plus a caramel latte.
First, they slightly messed up my order. Eggs bennie come with a side of greens, and I wanted that as well as an additional side of potatoes, which they charged me extra for. They just replaced the greens with potatoes.
Food itself is mediocre. Portion sizes are a little sad. One of my eggs was overdone (no runny yolk) and one was fine. There was hardly any hollandaise sauce at all, and what little was there wasn't very flavorful. The ham had more than one inedible bit in it. The english muffins weren't toasted and were a bit floppy.
The potatoes weren't bad, in that they were a gratin, so very cheesy and creamy, but no seasoning to speak of. Not even black pepper. They were kind of bland. They were also barely warm, like room temperature.
And all that for $30. Way overpriced for what you get. This isn't an employee problem, it's a management problem. It's obvious that there's a lot of cost cutting going on. Cheap ingredients, cheap food, but they charge gourmet dining prices for it.
I wouldn't eat here again and I wouldn't...
