A Perfect Harmony of Warm Broth and Spicy Tang! (Odeng Soup & Golbaengi Muchim) Craving a warm, comforting broth and a spicy dish, I recently visited Han Shin Pocha in LA. As expected, it didn't disappoint and I had a wonderfully enjoyable time! On this visit, I ordered the 'Odeng Soup' and 'Golbaengi Muchim' – an excellent choice indeed! First, the Odeng Soup boasted an exceptionally deep and refreshing broth. Its warmth was perfect for a chilly evening, truly warming the body. Plus, the generous variety of fish cakes offered a delightful pick-and-choose experience. Each spoonful of the broth practically begged for a shot of soju – it was such a perfect pairing that I almost overindulged! Then there was the Golbaengi Muchim, the epitome of spicy and tangy flavors. The fresh vegetables combined with the chewy sea snails were simply artful. The seasoning wasn't overly aggressive but still managed to tantalize the taste buds with just the right amount of kick, perfectly balancing the mildness of the Odeng Soup. Mixing it with the somyeon noodles made for an even more satisfying and filling meal! Overall, LA Han Shin Pocha is an excellent spot to enjoy delicious Korean pocha food in a lively atmosphere. I highly recommend it for a night out with friends or when you need to de-stress. I'll definitely be trying other menu items on my next visit! It was...
Read moreIve never had k bar food until tonight. My friends and I found about this place after visiting the pastry place downstairs. We were hungry so why not try some korean food. This place has outdoor seating but it was chilly so we sat indoors which was spacious. The menu had a lot of food which was supposed to paired with alcohol, so we ordered the fried chicken, the pork bbq with cheese, and stir fried squid. We also tried the makgeoli and strawberry soju. It might be hard to imagine how tasty alcohol and food pairings go but it felt like a food adventure where we tried which combinations suited ecah other the best. I would say the makgeoli goes well with the stir fried squid bc of that heat from the red sauce and the almost nutty rice taste from the makgeoli. The pork bbq goes well with the soju! It was fun just pulling the cheese and having it with sweet spicy pork. The fried chicken pairs better with the makgeoli in my opinion(but my friends argue otherwise and says its better with the soju), bc after that initial crunch of the skin, i wanted a tangy drink to wash it down.
We loved our food adventure today. It was exciting to just spend the day trying different food combinations and seeing which food goes well with what. This place made me want to visit other korean restaurants and try more food combinations. Thank you hanshin pocha for...
Read moreDuring a cold day we wanted some good korean food to warm our stomachs. This is the go to place for some bomb k food and it really exceeded our expectations. We ordered 4 dishes to share amongst us three and we did regret it a bit bc of the portions.
The fried rice was only a couple bucks and it came out sizzling. The waiter advised us to mix it so we get that even crispy rice without completely burning it.
The meat pancake was THICK. We thought it would come out thin like most korean pancakes but it was fluffy and filled with meat.
The fish cake was our favorite. Surprisingly, we didnt think there would be so much variety in fish cakes, but after this dish we know better!
Lastly, was the experimental choice of chicken feet. None of us have ever tried it before and considering it was a resturant specialty, we wanted to try it. We enjoyed it a lot more than we thought. It was of course spicy, but not mouth numbing and it feels like your eating spicy marinated chicken skin. The sauce is was really makes it good. If you've had spicy korean chicken it tastes similar to that. I would definitely recommend tasting it.
We really enjoyed our night here and left with not only our stomached filled but heated from all that great k food. Hopefully We can come back to ktown and try out more of...
