✈️ Airport Eats Special | The Culinary Desert of LAX Terminal

I was looking for soup, after landing at LAX Terminal 3 on Delta - needing to kill a few hours - and the airport map wanted me to walk, bus, hike 20 to 30 min to two different pizza joints. I figured I’d check Native, literally right there in Terminal 3. The staff highly recommend the green curry corn chowder and let me taste the base soup - a bit of a kick and tickle to the back of the throat, and I like spicy, so was gonna pass - but the sample was addicting and the staff all said they loved it so I figured I’d give it a go. OMG it was delicious!!!! The potatoes were purple so I was expecting Okinawa sweet potato flavor but true to the menu they all tasted like new potatoes. I wish I got a before picture because the bowl is laid out decoratively with the ingredients and the soup is in what resembles a sake bottle and poured over the rest of the ingredients at the table. All I can say YUM YUM YUM! Yes, it is pricey ($18) and the portion size small - but honestly it was just the right amount/size for between flights and so very delicious! I highly recommend😎! Oh, I had a piece of corn bread I brought from home - ya know, for the flight and it complemented the dish nicely. I guess my only wish is that it was served with corn bread - but not a deal breaker.

Shockingly Unprofessional Service – Avoid at All Costs!

I recently had the displeasure of dining at Native, and I must say that my experience at the bar was utterly appalling, primarily due to the astonishingly rude and disrespectful bartender, I feel compelled to share my experience so that others can avoid the complete lack of professionalism that I encountered.

Upon taking a seat at the bar, I was met with a level of hostility and arrogance that I've never witnessed before in any dining establishment. Instead of a warm welcome or a simple greeting, The Bartender lady in the picture attached immediately snapped at me, insisting that I needed to vacate my seat because I wasn't in her "section." Her tone was not only dismissive but downright offensive.

In all my years of dining out, I have never encountered a service professional so openly disdainful of their customers. It was abundantly clear that she had absolutely no interest in providing a pleasant dining experience. She openly declared that her sole purpose was to "make money and not be nice." This shocking admission was not only unprofessional but deeply insulting to anyone who values basic courtesy and respect when patronizing a restaurant.

Throughout the entire encounter, she continued to display an alarming lack of basic customer service skills. She was abrasive, dismissive, and seemed to relish in belittling patrons. It was as if she believed that customers were an inconvenience to her, rather than the lifeblood of the restaurant's success.

In addition to her astonishingly poor attitude, she also failed to deliver on the fundamental aspects of bartending. My drink order was mishandled, and the quality of service throughout my visit was nothing short of abysmal.

I strongly urge the management of Native to reevaluate their staff and consider whether this Bartender is the right fit for their establishment. Her behavior is not only detrimental to the restaurant's reputation but also a disservice to customers who deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy. In a competitive dining industry, such a negative experience can lead to the loss of loyal patrons and potential customers.

I sincerely hope that Native takes appropriate action to address this issue, as no customer should ever be subjected to the level of disrespect and hostility that I experienced during my visit. It's a shame that such an otherwise promising restaurant is marred by the presence of her, who has single-handedly tarnished its image.

I strongly advise potential patrons to think twice before visiting Native until they address this serious issue and ensure a welcoming and respectful...

We have eaten here twice now and wont again after today. I ordered the chicken sandwich. It came with what looked like a chicken finger on it that only took up half the bun. Once I bit in to it I realized more than half of the chicken was just fat and fried stuff. I wanted to exchange it for something else, but yessenia our waitress didn’t come back to check on us for more than 15 minutes. We looked and looked for her for 10 minutes and then attempted to get her attention when she sat two new tables nearby, but did not check in on. My husband was fully done with his meal and both our drinks were long empty before she came to check on us. When we asked for it to be taken off the bill since it’s inedible, she didn’t understand and then went to get a manager. I explained we would have told her sooner if she had checked in our table to which she said, ‘well I’ve been around.’ The manager then came out and said…’so, you don’t like it?’ Which was not what I had communicated with her staff member. I showed it to her and explained it was mostly fat and looked grey….to which the manager responded ‘well it’s a thigh, but we can make another one.’ I said no thank you and she said she would let the chef know. To be clear, this was everyone’s fault. The chef shouldn’t have served it, the restaurant shouldn’t be purchasing low quality chicken, the manager shouldn’t have let it leave the line and go to the a table, and the server should have checked on the customer and been understanding and accommodating. They made me feel like I was crazy and trying to get something free. If I had eaten it I would have gladly paid for it, but I didn’t. Just felt like the whole thing was...

Many issues leading to a 1 star evaluation:

Service is extremely slow. Not only did management not put enough time workers at the bar area, doesn’t seem like they were focusing on the orders. Even worse, two people who arrived after I did got their order sooner than I did - and my dish was a small/simple one. Even the draft beer I ordered never came out while the others’ cocktails came out before my beer. For 1 draft beer and a small menu, I waited about 35 mins for it.

I also asked for my bill right away so I can pay it first so I can leave to catch my flight. That also never happened. They handed me the bill and I left my card for them to handle it. They didn’t handle it until the very end of my very late meal, and took another 10 mins of me repeatedly asking to close my bill.

In addition, they’re not focused so they suddenly added another person’s order onto my bill and got defensive that I wasn’t the one who ordered it. Again, this wouldn’t have been an issue if they just closed my bill when I asked.

Finally, this place adds a 18% service charge (which their service absolutely didn’t meet) and the only warning is that extremely tiny font at the very bottom of the menu. Not to mention, they also add a tip section on the bill to possibly double dip if the customer didn’t check carefully.

Overall, food was mediocre at best, service was not only slow, but also incompetent. Don’t go here if you’re expecting to make your flight since you’ll need at least 1 hour to just deal with the chaos and...
