Nativo — Restaurant in Los Angeles

We were in the outdoor area. Looks like a nice place in general.

There was a wrap party going on, and they were doing some sort of raffle for indoor guests. The issue was that had impacted the service outside—it was difficult to have a conversation outside since the outdoor music uses the same PA system, so the 30 minutes we waited for our drink order ended up evaporating since the night was filling up with an air horn button straight off a Twitch stream.

The server was nice, but there apparently were issues getting drinks due to the packed nature of the party inside. One of the drinks, a hotty toddy, had spilled in the saucer and was lukewarm when it arrived. It was also not clarified that a shot of tequila has a 2x price jump when confirming there is no ice (someone in our group has allergies and wanted to avoid cross contamination, as many places serve lemon with ice).

Someone came by to apologize about the audio—a nice gesture, but they didn't ask if anything else was okay. I'm not in the area often, so dunno if I will be back to see what it is like when they...

I liked the ambience of Nativo and being we were a group of 18-20 people the outside patio was a great place that offered options. We were there for happy hour and bites so not full on meals. Mushroom Tacos were tasty, and I enjoyed the yucca fries. Nothing outstanding but solid. Servers did their job but none engaged with us or checked in on our group to see if we needed anything or provide anything else. Not smart for business and especially a large group. The 2-star rating mainly came from the female bartender. I was there for happy hour when I ordered my food. My mistake was to ask her for a mocktail recommendation and we went with a virgin pina colada. It was my fault in assuming it would be a HH drink but even if it wasn't, I was charged $17 JUST FOR THE DRINK. And to top it off, it tasted like nothing. That's right, it had zero taste. I should have refused the drink. I could have refused the drink but I decided to be nice. On 2nd thought. Let me take that back. There was a taste - a bad taste that was left in my mouth, pun...

I really want to give this place a better rating but it’s so inconsistent. First time I visited it was amazing. Our party of six didn’t have a table and they quickly found accommodations while we drank at the bar. Servers were kind and attentive. They even gave us a tour of the place and backstory. Second time we tried to visit we had a reservation and it took a long time to even see a host to check us in. Then they couldn’t find our reservation, we helped her located on the iPad for them but there were no tables available so it was going to be a 40-min wait. We went else where. A third visit they had our reservation and sat us down for dinner outside where they only have coffee tables! Our meal was so low to the ground it was such an uncomfortable experience. The staff each time seem spread thin and they try their best but realistically they can’t keep up. Food is great but the second time we ate there it didn’t taste as special as the first. I also thought the menu seemed different....
