Been going here for decades and the owner still works here and it's probably got one of the best creations that I've had that is unique and I really won't try to explain it I'm just here to tell you when you go to Oki Dog don't get anything on the menu except an Oki Dog it's the name of the place so try it and then if you want to try the other things on the menu, go ahead and get it next time. The only thing I do to make it a little more amazing as I have them add a bit of mustard and a bit of pickled cabbage. Don't let the sound of it put you off try it it will just add to the flavor of all the ingredients. An Oki Dog will fill you up for about $10. If you're young and can eat a lot you might have room for french fries they make them fresh there they are not frozen from Cisco like most restaurants. There's about three or four parking spots in the parking lot so parking can be kind of difficult, it's definitely worth it. Across the street is a Lowe's home improvement so maybe stop in there and pick up something you need for the house everybody needs something and then walk over and enjoy your lunch or dinner. If you go with two people try getting an okey dog and have them cut it in half and then get a pastrami burrito and have them cut it in half and then you can have two halves of my favorite two things. That's what I do every time I take somebody new and I'm giving them the experience of this fine fine establishment. If I were to open a restaurant this is the restaurant I would like to open. The other location that is closed was run by a guy named Jimmy and I always told him I wanted to open up one of these places because the smiles that people get when they taste it is just amazing. It's been around since the early '70s and it's still going strong. It's definitely not one of the new swanky places where they sprinkle little stuff on the plate and it's all about the presentation This place is all about the food. The thing that makes it special is that the owner shows up to work everyday He runs a tight ship and he keeps all of the employees and the food up to his standards there is no deviation He's not sitting at home watching TV collecting a check He actually works and works very hard. The employees work just as hard as him I don't know how he does it but he definitely keeps things on par very very consistent and very excellent...
Read moreI went In to order some food and the short crazy looking hispanic female who work in the front with a rag on her head is very rude and ignorant and uneducated, maybe that's why she cant fine a better job. She is very unprofessional to customers, she didn't know I could speak Spanish, I'm from Columbia (black) and I heard her saying negative things about black people, when I asked her why the fu--k was she saying negative racial things about black people to another hispanic customer she was shocked that I heard it, I don't like her attitude, she must have forgotten we as customers is her paycheck, the food was nasty, the other cook in there is just as stupid as she is. I mention it to the owner, but I guess he is desperate for a cashier and a cook there. The owner is cool, but his help there are very stupid and ignorant. I will never go back in there and eat from a racist rag wearing mammy, who barely can speak English, and trying to talk about customers who is keeping there doors open. Food was very distasteful . wish I could give the no stars for her...
Read moreI heard about Oki’s Dog while walking around LA. It sounds like something locals in the Fairfax area seem to know about, and though it’s quite low key, it does seem to have a faithful fan base.
While driving through the area, I decided it was time I made my way to Oki’s Dog to see what all the hype was about.
Note that they are CASH ONLY! So make sure you have a bit of earth monies ready to spend. They have a small dining area inside and outside, as well as a small parking lot.
Looking at photos, I knew that I wanted the Oki Dog, which is two hot dogs, cheese with chili and pastrami all wrapped into a nice burrito. It reminded me of my favorite item from Pink’s! It was really tasty, good mixture of meats and chilli, and not as oily as Pink’s, which I appreciated.
Loved the meal, and will start bringing people here when they’re craving a...
