The food is really great for what we were able to eat. We went in the evening and the restaurant was out of Jerk Chicken! We really wanted to have that because you know thats the standard for most caribbean spots. We ordered 3 jerk shrimp platters, but found out while waiting that there wasn't enough for all three. This is the only reason for the 3-star rating. Inside the restaurant, the dining room is minimally decorated with basic tables and metal red, black, and green chairs. A large screen television plays music videos from Caribbean and Afro-beat artists ushering in an island vibe. Overall, it's a bit pricey but worth the visit. Just be careful because I've heard of people going multiple days in a row.
ALLERGEN ALERT: The shrimp patties contain imitation crab.
The curry chicken is full of flavor and isn't overbearing on the curry. I'm not a big curry lover and I would order it again. However, the chicken is cooked on the bone so be prepared for bones.
The jerk shrimp are cooked with onions and bell peppers and are full of spice from their signature jerk sauce. It was a tad salty, but I'd order it again. The plates come with plenty of rice and peas so you have plenty of carbs to soak up the heat.
The wait for meals can be long during peak dinner time, so I can only imagine the lunch rush. They have Ting and other Jamaican sodas. I tried a combination of Pineapple/Ginger and Sorrel/Ginger juices. The meat patties are delicious and don't lack on flavor either. I had the Jerk chicken patty and if the plate chicken tastes anything like the patty, I will need to be prepared...
Read moreWorst Jamaican restaurant ever. First of all, they’re restroom is out of service. Second of all, one beef patty shouldn’t cost $4.50 so I didn’t buy one. I ordered a jerk pork meal which was way too salty and so dry I couldn’t even chew it. The cabbage was way too soft, it like they cooked it and then reheated it up later so it was over cooked. I also ordered a jerk chicken WINGS meal. When I opened the box, they put jerk chicken leg and thigh inside. I gave it back and told them I ordered wings and that’s when they gave us the chicken wings. I also ordered a side of oxtails which cost $12.65 and when I opened the box they put 5 small pieces of oxtail inside. They said a side of oxtail is only 5 pieces hahaha. Now that’s a RIP OFF.. I told them that’s not worth $12.65 so I wanted a refund. They said they can’t authorize refunds so they have to call the boss so I waited. Finally they gave me $12.25 back. Didn’t even get the full refund back nor did I get the tax that I paid on it. I also ordered a side of jerk chicken to take home and these people make Jamaicans look bad. They couldn’t even make a good jerk chicken. It was burnt and had no flavor. Guys, please please please don’t waste your time or money here. This is not how Jamaican Food is supposed to taste… If you want real Jamaican Food, look up Country Style Jamaican Restaurant in Inglewood. It’s a bit of a drive but it’s...
Read moreIt was a rough start coming to this restaurant. I came in with optimistic and positive intentions, but the person at the front desk acted like he didn’t want to even take my order as it was our first time eating there.
I clearly told him what I wanted, and he subtracting everything for what I wanted as they were two of us and I had to remind him I wanted two of what the special was, which was the oxtail Rasta pastas, and three patties. Two jerk chicken, and one beef.
The then told me it will take 20 minutes, and After that, I came and looked at the order and saw he only gave me one jerk chicken, and one beef patty as I told him I wanted two as I suggested earlier.
He looked at me like I was trying to trick him, and I reminded him what I paid for, and I will never play him, he then proceeded to just give me the one and says in patois as I walked out.
Normally, whenever I get cussed out while getting service at a restaurant, the food usually is amazing, but this food was just OK.
I know the chef did his thing making it, but I didn’t feel it was real love put into making this food as the person that just rub me the wrong way.
If you’re looking for Jamaican restaurants in the valley, I do not suggest this one.
I suggest that you make that drive into the real LA area and choose one of...
