The food is not fresh and the ingredients are poor quality. Quite franky, I was very disappointed. I am Guatemalan and I left the restaurant feeling ashamed to have this place have any connection to my culture. The only half decent items where the chips that came as an appetizer. Everything was bland and had no quality control before leaving the kitchen. My Tapado was just fishy water and left me wondering why they would serve this to any customer. It came with a whole crab that sacrificed it's life to become mush. It was served with a side of rice that resembled dough rather than rice. My wife ordered the Kakik which again was just colored water. My children ordered the Antojitos tipicos, which were sade, cold and stale fried food. The waiter tried to hype up that the food takes a while because it is all made to order, but we quickly realized it was just an excuse for their below par service. He maybe came to check on us one time after bring our food. They had live music, which was obnoxiously loud and was worse than a bad karaoke. At the end of each song the performer would clap for themselves as no one in the room was entertained enough to want more. We were there for over and hour only because it took 30 m9nutes to pay out check. When we did pay we left to find something good to eat else where. My Tapado was nothing more than overly fishy water, making me question why they would serve it at all. It came with a whole crab that had been reduced to mush and a side of rice that had the texture of dough rather than proper grains. My wife ordered the Kak'ik, which turned out to be nothing more than colored water. My children’s Antojitos Típicos were sad, cold, and stale—just poorly executed fried food.
The waiter attempted to justify the long wait by saying the food was made to order, but it became clear this was just an excuse for subpar service. He checked on us only once after dropping off our food. The live music was painfully loud, worse than bad karaoke, and the performer clapped for themselves after each song since the audience was clearly uninterested.
We ended up spending over an hour there, mainly because it took 30 minutes just to pay our bill. As soon as we could, we left in search of a proper...
Read moreWe came in today excited to try this restaurant. We arrived at noon and the place was pretty empty. The waitress whose name is Alejandra approached our table and asked us what we wanted to drink. I wanted a specific coffee that’s on their menu from Guatemala but she informed me they only had regular coffee. I had no choice but to order that. She brought the coffee half way filled up and said I’ll bring you more right now. Coffee was cold and she didn’t even bring anything to stir it with. That was the first thing that was disappointing. I then realized that the people sitting in front of us had chips with salsa, napkins with utensils while our table was empty. I then proceeded to ask her if we had to buy the chips with salsa or if that’s courtesy of the house since other tables had them. She had an attitude and said the chips and salsa come after you order your meal. We were there before the other guest arrived and yet they have better hospitality however, their waiter was different from ours. We then waited approximately 30 minutes for our food to arrive. To say the least it was not worth driving 35 minutes to the so-called authentic Guatemalan restaurant. Alejandra never came back to refill my coffee cup. When we were done she asked if we wanted containers for the food we didn’t finish. My husband said yes she brought a plastic bowl without a lid and she said I’ll bring the lid right now and never brought the lid. My husband just ended up, leaving it in the table. Once again, not worth the drive waitress Alejandra needs to learn some hospitality and good customer...
Read moreMy mom has been wanting to go to this restaurant. I decide to take her for her birthday along with some family members. The food at this restaurant was the lowest quality of food I have ever tasted. The server did not receive the proper training to do her job. The margaritas tasted like juice, the server did know how to pour tap beer, and I offered to help her out, but she did not respond back to me. After she made a few attempts to pour the beer, I finally received my beer it wasn't chilled, but I drank it. I ordered the salpicón plate, and the beef they used had a fishy/expired taste I didn't eat it. My uncle wanted his meat well done and they served it to him medium rare. My dad's friend never received his order, and when we asked the server about the order, she came back to tell us that they were out of the meat. My sister who is a chef did not eat the food she ordered because it was way overcooked, and asked to speak to the owner. When he finally came over to talk to us, he offered 10% off our order and, the next meal on him. We respectfully declined because we love to eat good quality food, we will not put ourselves through that misery again. The owner should not have charged us for the food we did not eat. I really hope this business can work on building a solid team that cares about the customer experience and the quality of their food. As of right now, this business feels like it's just taking money away from the Guatemalan community and from what I saw and read there is not any effort to make this change...
