Woah where to begin.... well before COVID this was an absolute great place i would tell friends, family, co-workers and even random people through conversations. I would attend this establishment often with my pug (he gets tired from MIB). Its a small place so I started to get to know the staff more, even played a mobile game with one of the bussers. When COVID first started i didn't go out much but when restaurants opened up, I went straight to blue dog to support! To my surprise I didn't recognize any of the staff (except one, which was interesting bc I remember her needing more obvious training with customer service). The new staff had me feeling like I was in a completely different place then the place I used to love. I was in the patio and no one paid any attention to me or didn't ask if I wanted another drink or if my food was good. I understand the new menu had to change due to the pandemic, but they couldn't even get what I ordered correct! Gave this place another try but was worse then the last, felt like I was being served attitude with a side of lifeless. I managed to come in contact with the old busser and to my surprise everyone from the original staff was laid off and was never asked to come back. And now on social media blue dog is asking for a GoFund me for the new workers????? What about the original staff that actually cared about the business. I guess Paul prefers people with distinguishable white traits. (I could only assume he used COVID as an excuse to fire the whole staff)This is awful never again shall I say anything positive about this establishment. A place that considers their works expendable should have no business staying in business. If you're looking to support local businesses during these crucial times please I implore you to...
Read moreThis place is a great find ! 1st off parking can be a little tight. So be prepared to park out on the street. The food is delicious! I ordered "the davis" which has spicy mac n cheese and chili . The mac n cheese is definitely not spicy. It has a little kick to it but nothing serious. The French fries are fresh ! I love In n Out but the Blue Dog has way better fries ! My burger had the distinct taste of meat in it . I had it medium -well and asked that the middle be pink and that is exactly how it came out .it's not over seasoned ,not too much salt not a lot of pepper , I couldn't have asked for it to be cooked more perfectly . Our server knew about the beer that is provided. He wasn't pushy and tried his best to find the perfect beer for me. The bathrooms are well taken care of . They were NOT dirty and they did smell fresh ! If you plan on taking a date here sit outside because it's not as loud . But if you're here with friends for a few brews I'd suggest sitting inside. Thanks blue dog for a great experience! ...
Read moreEdit: While my assessment below stands... Please note that my reason for not liking the Blue Dog Tavern is because it's too damn successful. Seriously. There's really nothing that they can do about the issues I have with the place, short of knocking down the building and replacing it, which there's no room for on the lot. I'm sure it's the perfect place to stop and avoid some traffic on your evening commute on either the 101 or 405. The beer selection is awesome, and the food was quite good. For me, too many people and too loud. :/
I live a half a block away, and while they have some great beers, the place is too loud to even hear anyone 2 feet away from you without yelling. The service is abysmal because there are too many patrons most of the time as well. They do a lot of business even with these problems, so they must be doing something right. I've tried it a few times since it would be such a convenient place for me to go hang out, but it's not worth it... Unless you can manage to get one of a very few...
