Excellent place for Mexican food. Came into this lil spot while waiting near the hospital. Had always seen it really busy early breakfast (around 7) and lunch time with people from all walks of life. Knew i eventually had to give it a try. Only thing I'm sorry about is that i hadn't gone in sooner. The menu had a good variety of "comida mexicana" that you expect to find in a Mexican restaurant along with some specialty plates seldom seen. Ranging from tortas to sopes de maíz made fresh on the spot. You know the place is special when they are cranking freshly made tortillas de maíz to accompany the plates of food being served. A majority of those special dishes are offer plated but also in burrito form. I have yet to try out everything on the menu, since everytime i go back I'm always having the burritos 🌯. My favorite is a" burrito de carne en salsa de molcajete", which is beef simmered in a delicious green chile sauce. Where talking old school people! They aren't frying a steak then throwing salsa on it. Negative. They are talking the time by marrying both the salsa and meat to end up with a super tender and mildly spicy(opinions vary) mouthwatering dish. I explain this because my mom is old school, and an often complaint of hers is that places falsely sell a dish of "carne con chile" in the place of "carne EN chile"; huge difference. This place is able to satisfy the craving of a home cooked meal without having to do the cooking. The burritos are accompanied by their delicious rice and beans and are also made with great care and attention since they compliment all the food as well. You can substitute the rice for potatoes, but i find i miss the rice when i do this even tough it's a nice change. The burritos are about 7 To 8 bucks depending on the type of burrito your getting. Dirt cheap for the amount of food and quality your getting. Literally living up to the name...
Read moreAfter shopping in downtown we headed home but we were very hungry there's a restaurant I really want to try called Que Rick's close distance to USC General Hospital. That's were we headed to we got off the car then walk to the restaurant. We look at the menu then decided to order my wife order the carne asadad tortas and I order the chicken taquitos place. The restaurant is small with couple of table and there's a patio where's they're tables. They brought the food it looks so good especially my chicken taquitos. I took a.scoop of rice it was very amazing good with flavors that remind traditional Mexican rice full with flavors and the bean have flavor they use lard to bring the beans full of flavors and including spices in the beans. I tasted the chicken taquitos they were so good they were crispy and crunchy it comes with lettuces sour cream and guacamole add it together the meal was incredible good. My wife enjoy her carne asada torta very much. We need to...
Read moreLong time Que Ricos customer, although it has been a good minute since we've been. It was the go to for years. But it's been remodeled, possibly even genterfired to an extent. The food is cheaper quality, the beans were it! Now they are a canned version. The menu is cut in half, with vegetarian options so that's nice for some. But carnitas out, sopes out...amongst other favorites. And more expensive of course! It might look nifty now, snazzy even, but we won't be back. Twas a good one Que Ricos, thanks for the...
