Ramirez Bakery — Restaurant in Los Angeles

This tiny bakery is THE best! The conchas and elotes pasties are my standard order here (but you really can’t go wrong with most anything else behind those glass cases. The cream cheese and pickled jalapeño bolillos are fantastic!), but they sell out quickly, especially the vanilla conchas. When I fly back home (Albuquerque), I’ll call night before, or super early morning day of, and they very kindly set an order aside. I’ve also ordered the Tres Reyes cake here, and it did not disappoint! I’ve never NOT been stuck with a whole round of this cake, when I’ve picked one up from the grocery store. But Ramirez’s had people going back for 2nds, in spite of increasing their odds of getting “the baby” folded into it, and therefor having to host a party -it was soft and pillowy and tasty. This place is a true gem. Definitely try them out, but be sure to bring cash, as they are cash only -strictly. This is by far, the BEST bakery making authentic Pan Dulce(Mexican sweet bread)! Do yourself a favor and head to Jimenez bakery, you will not be disappointed. The quality of ingredients is evident and Mr. Jimenez is a gifted bakery who puts love and passion into all he does. The selection is robust and they even sell tamales! The bakery is cash only, and located in a small strip mall, but don't let the outside fool you. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want great tasting yummy tamales, this is the place. They are nice and full. The price is reasonable. I usually order a half dozen or a dozen. I’ve taken them to work and my colleagues LOVE them. I’ve also taken them to a Friendsgiving and they loved them too. I’d recommend this place to anyone.
