It's a family affair. Without the overhead of credit card fees, at Teddy's is all cash, and the place is packed. The extended terrace was no less full at noon with a temp of 63° . The clientele seems to be a regular crowd. I saw more than one family greed with other customers. What a friendly family environment. The majority of customers were families with kids. Friendly service serving customers in both languages English and Spanish.

As I was walking out, a family of seven was walking in. A middle-aged man in the parking lot with his family quickly answered that they have been coming to Freddy's for the past six years, almost every day. And, added "even during the pandemic," with a wide smile."

In the parking lot, a young woman is waiting for her car. An older gentleman, possibly three times her age, shows up. He greets her with a smile and a "Hello. Hello." They get in the car and drive away.

I couldn't resist waiting on my car to see who else would show up. As the couple drove away, a family of five was stepping out of their vehicle. Two couples, a young man and a child. The younger woman holding the child by her hand couldn't deny, even if she tried, that the older couple was their parents. Both women had the same body structure, slim and mid high, and curly hair and same facial features.

An older man gets out of a car. A younger man gets out of the drivers side and walks to the passenger's side to help an older woman. They all three walk to the restaurant.

After 30 minutes of seating in my car, the scene is repeated as more car park.

Families, couples, and solos, young and old, kept arriving. Younger people were driving out, helping older folks who perhaps are grandparents.

Teddy's is a family affair

Take a look at the menu. Reasonable prices because they have avoided the extra credit card charges.

The location was a secret for me. I have overlooked Freddy's for the last 15 years. I drive by at least four times a week. I live only a few blocks away. Easy to overlook from the outside. There is no fancy decoration outside. There is a handwritten sign and a simple neon open sign. A street sign announces "Teddy's Cafe."

"Open for 35 years now," the owner tells me. Julio, the waiter and the other two waitresses, know customers by name or at least customers know their names.

I like consistency. I went back on Jan 1st. The scenes were repeated.

Technically I've been driving around this area for 10 years because of the jobs that I've been going to which are near Santa Monica and Brentwood and I would always see this restaurant but I would never stop there. I mean I was always curious to try this restaurant but I never had any attempt of going. And then finally today me and my family decided to go and I'm so glad that we finally had the attempts of going. The food was delicious the food that me my mom and my dad mostly got was just plain simple we got a plain simple sandwich and a burger I got myself a nice tuna sandwich and it was amazing I was so in love with that sandwich that I didn't want to stop eating the sandwich because it was so good. The coleslaw was probably the best coleslaw that I've ever had in my entire life. But best of all we got the best staff service ever. The staff was very helpful very pleasant and they made our experiences be the best one.

I also had a very delicious coconut cookie that I had was amazing and the hot chocolate and coffee that I had was delicious. I also love the 1950s theme of the restaurant I love how everything is just old school there's no computer on the cash register it's just a plain old regular cash register. The toy model cars that they have of the 1950s I love it there's even a picture of Lucille Ball. And oh the parking is free. this place has definitely won me over I am definitely coming back. ❤️❤️❤️ I highly recommend this to anybody who's coming to LA to check out teddy's cafe it's the best...

One of the cheapest diners in Los Angeles. I can’t believe it took me so long to stop in because I work only a few miles from here. As mentioned the prices are extremely reasonable, a big reason most likely is because they are cash only. They have an ATM on the inside just in case. They also have a very large free parking lot attached. Otherwise it will be street parking. They have a fairly large menu filled with all the classic diner options. They also have a lot of daily specials, which is what I chose today. Service was a bit slow and our server was not the most polite waitress that I’ve ever had. The food is also pretty good, although not in the great category in my opinion. It was fairly busy and lively when we were there but we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated.

I started off with a cup of coffee and the two biscuits and gravy for $2.50. At that price it’s impossible to beat but I was not the biggest fan of the gravy and wish the biscuits would have been fluffier. Not the best I’ve had this year but still worth getting. I chose one of the specials of the day, which was the Eggs Benedict. Again it was pretty good although not great. A lot of it comes down to the hollandaise sauce quality. This one was a bit too watery in my opinion. Also, the potatoes were more home style potatoes even though I requested hashbrowns.

Overall a pretty good diner, and I would recommend even though I have to give it a 4/5 because of service and...
