The Win~Dow Silver Lake — Restaurant in Los Angeles

So we get here at 840, we're the 3rd party in line. The two patrons before us order ice cream cones nothing else, pay for their orders. We approach the window, order 3 burgers 3 fries and 3 ice cream cones. The girl in charge of orders tells us the person before us ordered the last cone they're able to sell for the night. (I thought she was a joking). I asked if she could make an exception. I let her know we had just left urgent care at the hospital down the street and promised our son we would get him an ice cream cone for behaving so well. She wasn't budging, but I was persistent since we were literally ordering 3 seconds after the previous person. She then asked a gentleman (whom I assume was in charge) to talk to us, ran the same story by him and asked if he could at least do one ice cream cone for my son, even showed him my son's hospital bracelet and got a straight non empathetic NO. Surprised I asked him, "really"? He replied "yeah, we're done, no!!". His asnwer and the manner in which they both handled the situation was condenseding and demeaning. The smirk and giggles they both shared afterwards was the icing on the cake. The only difference between us and the two previous patrons was that we were POC and they were not. Which let us to believe their actions and the way they handled the situation we're racially motivated. It's disappointing when you try to support a new business in your community but get treated like dirt when doing so. If this is how you treat minorities and long time local residents, I can assure you the business won't last long. Learn to respect those in the community of all colors and creeds. Came across the Win-dow by accident.. one day I was strolling down Sunset and I saw that the little corner they're at was having like a farmers market event on a Tuesday afternoon. Super glad I found this spot my whole family loves it.. my first attempt here was the chicken sandwich with some fries got the aioli on the side and I got they're green sauce (forgot what it's called) since I'm a total sauce person. Let me tell y'all something this sandwich didn't need any sauces added! Incredible flavors on the chicken sandwich. Nice portion size on the chicken it's basically coming out the super soft bun. Incredible slaw! Refreshing, salty, soft, crispy sandwich is beautifully complimented by that slaw! I've gone back about 3 times since that first try and I've had everything there and nothing falls short of great! I would argue that Win-Dow has the best smash burger AND fries in LA! Make sure you get their dipped cone after you have your meal. YOU WON'T REGRET IT! Also if you want to skip the ice cream but you want something sweet get one of their shakes! Honestly! You're gonna like anything you get here.. Definitely an LA must try spot! Look my only complaint is that there's no tables or chairs to enjoy the meal also because if you're gonna have your food there it can be a little crazy since there is all sorts of things going on in that corner, but...

This has been a usual place for me and I have A ritual of walking and picking up a kale salad to go and walking home. Their salad lids don’t fit. They know it. I know it. I’ve already had a salad spill in my bag once. I ask for them to tape the lid at the register now. I order today as usual, when I go to pick it up there is literally a piece of tape an inch long on top (not securing anything, more decorative?) I ask the guy by the window for tape to secure the lid and he says “we can’t do that.” I said you do it for me every time. He said “ no, we don’t do that.” I explained the lids don’t stay on and that’s why I needed Tape. He was rude, dismissive, and was like not my problem and shrugged. He said “you can talk to the manager.” So I did. They need lids that fit if they’re gonna ban tape and shame customers for asking for a secure container. The manager tried to show me that if I squeeze the sides it “sometimes fits better” and they have supplier issues blah blah. Disappointed there wasn’t tape because the lids seriously don’t stay on, but more annoyed at the rude staff member. That’s what’s losing my business. Guess I’ll have to walk over to shake shack where they have lids that fit and team members that don’t gas light you for asking for...
