Let me start off with the good. The atmosphere is beautiful; you feel like you’re in a treehouse when you eat outside. However, I cannot stand this place and I will not be back. First of all the food you get for the price is annoying. The way the menu is set up is annoying. The “entrees” come with no sides along with it. It’s meal prices for one item. You’ll need to order several dishes to make up one meal. It’s just something to be aware of. Many will not take issue with this but it is a little annoying. The food quality is excellent though. No complaints there. The service is annoying. I ordered an iced latte, waited over 30 minutes, while all my friends got their alcoholic beverages, and got excuses as to why I didn’t receive mine. The excuses the workers make is kind of wild something there’s only one person who knows how to make a latte and only cold drinks are available yet I ordered a cold drink- I just ended up canceling the request. Then I had two other people spout the same long winded explanation as to why I couldn’t get the drink and I just said it’s ok. It’s all good. There were SEVERAL mistakes when it came to our food orders- food was coming in that wasn’t ours and food was missing from our table that was ordered. It was a hot mess. Only one-fourth of the group were given free drinks when they were messing up the majority of my group’s orders despite being told there were 10 people. Some of the workers had attitudes like I didn’t understand what was going on. There is no live music despite the sign out front just mess like that. It’s just odd. In addition to all of that, I’m not sure why the restaurant would give a brand new waitress of two weeks a table of 10 but… it took us about an hour to pay for our dinner and leave- blame is on us though for not just putting it on one card but we were split into two tables and asked beforehand if we could just split it those ways. The waitress came and checked on us during odd times… like when all we had was water before our meals came but rarely came once we had our food. Our spoon fell during our dessert and I didn’t even taste the item because I knew it would take them forever to get back to me with a utensil before the cake got cold. I understand many of these complaints are petty but all combined just made for an annoying experience. Didn’t work out. One of the workers, Zach I think, helped us at the very end with the catastrophic check so that was one of the few highlights...
Read moreAll the positive reviews are probably from weekdays not weekends! I made a reservation 4 days prior going there, and I requested an outdoor sitting, since the pictures are so beatiful and the view seems to be outstanding. Little did I know my expectations were way too high! We were sitted too close to other tables that it was so hard to move around! Even the waiters had a hard time moving between the tables without bumping to each other! They utilize every space to put a small table and chairs. So if you like a cosy place, not a fan of crowded places, avoid this place, don't waste your money and don't get fooled by the pictures. It's not what you see!
The service was terrible because they were extremely busy, not enough servers to save the crowd. The owners seem to be too greedy, if not they wouldn't utilize the space like this! It took forever to get our orders. My husband got his order first and waited on me for 30 minutes to get my order so we could enjoy our cold food together! The food was cold, over priced, too small portions, even smaller in what you see in pictures. I ordered well done burger, which the server asked if I want the "top bun", I said yes?! Then I saw that they charged us $1 extra for a top bun.. Don't all burgers have a top bun?! Even as described "open faces burgers" have a top bun, not places on the burger but served in the plate eventually. My requested "well done burger" was raw meat, i ended up not eating the beef, and didn't bother to confront the server cause he was no where to be found!
It was My husband's birthday, thinking this is a great place for celebration I took him here. I couldn't even order a piece of cake for him cause our server was no where to be found again! Besides, it would take another hour to get a piece of cake!
I went to a lot of restaurants, and I have experienced all sorts of different stuff but I don't necessary leave a bad review. But this location certainly deserves one! I was fooled by all the good reviews and the nice pictures, but trust me it's not what you see! Maybe on weekdays it's not as crowded, they dont have to utialize every inch of space to sit people! My advice? Don't waste your money...
Read moreWent here for brunch for my birthday, and had a wonderful, delicious time!
RESERVATIONS: It was easy to make a reservation online, and we were lucky to have had a table for two on the same day for brunch on a Saturday as its recommended to reserve at least a week in advance. 15-minute grace period so be on time!
PARKING: There is valet available on the weekends for $10 which is worth it as street parking around the area is very difficult to find during prime brunch hours.
SERVICE/AMBIANCE: We were greeted promptly by the host who confirmed our reservation and within a couple minutes were shown to our table; entrance was through a door and once you're in it opens up to a treehouse-like, wooden deck, bamboo forest open area. Just beautiful and feels intimate and tucked away and yet lively since the place is full of brunch-goers! Our two-top was perched a few levels of stairs up near the bamboo garden and really one of the best seats. Our server Jared was very friendly, never rushed us, made sure our orders were on the way and was funny too. Like we were personally welcomed to his backyard :)
FOOD / DRINKS: Bellinis are excellent and you can see the fresh fruit used in the drink which is lovely (and we made note of the 90-minute open bar option but passed on it this time) and there was also a coffee menu which had excellent quality coffee too (and oat milk option). Fall 2023 Menu is perfect for sharing. The BEEF BUREKA is a new menu item and was stunning, definitely top item of the day, with a tomato and beet sauce and ground beef and fragrant onion jam stuffed in a pastry. The SHAKSHOUKA is a classic brunch item, served in a rich red tomato sauce and a soft-firm halved egg and two slices of crispy toast with good olive oil. And the SHRIMP CEVICHE was served with zingy lime chips which goes with the zingy sauce that the shrimp and veggies came with. And for dessert: THE BEST CAKE lives up to its name, a rich and sticky date cake that we added ice cream to for a lovely way to end a birthday brunch!
Excellent, romantic, delicious, beautiful place. A prime example of LA brunch at its best! Can't...
