Volcano Boba, located in Sawtelle, has earned a reputation as one of the most popular boba places in the area, evident from the consistently long lines. Having recently visited, I had the opportunity to try their Tai tea boba and Black sugar milk tea latte, resulting in a mixed experience.

Starting with the positives, Volcano Boba's Tai tea boba is truly deserving of the hype it receives. The tea itself is infused with a delightful flavor that strikes a perfect balance, delivering a robust and satisfying taste. Complementing the tea, the tapioca pearls offer a pleasing chewiness, adding an enjoyable texture to the beverage. However, my experience with their Black sugar milk tea latte was less impressive. The drink leaned heavily towards a milky profile, overpowering the more delicate notes of the black sugar. As a result, the expected complexity and distinctiveness of the black sugar flavor were somewhat lost, leading to an imbalanced drink. Those seeking a stronger black sugar taste might find this particular offering disappointing. Additionally, one drawback of Volcano Boba is that they don't offer a small size option, limiting choices for those who prefer a smaller serving.

In conclusion, Volcano Boba offers a mixed experience. well...me and my family love boba and we usually get drinks every other day from Volcano and their drinks are so good and decent..but such a BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE experience i've ever had...i been going there to Almost 3 year and my family just boba bill is around $200 every months...but there's one lady, she is very rude and voice is too loud..i've seen her yelling and asking back to customers like blah blah blah..the way she talk is rude which make me so disappointed and i stopped going there..well i worked for customer service too and i never disrespect to my customer.

if my customer asked 10 times i told them where there seats is cuz they pay you every time...such a bad CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE i've ever had in my entire life...i won't go there NEVER EVER agin...but other employees are nice and polite expect her. if i asked questions each time i come , i pay each time too...i saw here talking back and yelling back to the customers very often...I Don’t Care who ever she is..but you MUST BE NICE AND RESPECTFUL TO THE CUSTOMERS...

this experience made me write reviews in my entire life i never wrote reviews to restaurants and shops...but today is first time i’m creating yelp account just to write reviews for this boba shop...i know most people have had such a bad customer service experience with that lady...i usually go at night...i go almost every day but from now i’ll STOP...

Decent house milk tea! I've probably come here 20+ times since moving to LA and used to come here all the time!... but now with so many different boba shops on Sawtelle, my visits have become more seldom.

That said, I always and only order their House Milk Tea. Very unique house milk taste, I usually just get 100% sweetness because it is not too overbearingly sugary, and 80% just doesn't seem like enough..

Plus: +LOTS of options on menu +Covid precautions in place +house milk tea is VERY unique - unlike any other milk tea I have ever tasted +they have stamp cards

Cons: -parking (well, that's Sawtelle for you) -prices have gone up over the years, but expected -CASH ONLY!!!!!! or Venmo -sometimes very long times, esp. Fridays/Saturdays.. I once waited 30+ minutes for a drink but at the time I was CRAVING Volcano and it was worth it!

I have yet to try more drinks but I am one of those boring house milk tea type of people. Boba is consistently fresh & chewy. Quality of tea is good, not out of this world amazing, but solid. Will definitely be coming back...
