I went to this place for tamales for Christmas. I went Christmas Eve in the early morning. The line was a bit long, but I did expect a wait. The were nice and brought everyone champurrado since it was a chilly morning. I waited about an hour or so not too bad. I ordered pork, chicken, beef and spinach and cheese. The pork tamales were really good. The masa wasn't dry and the tamale had plenty of meat and sauce. The chicken tamale was also delicious. It had plenty of chicken, but a little more sauce would have made it perfect. The beef tamale was good, not too bad and so was the spinach and cheese. The best ones for me were the chicken and pork. Yum! My wife also liked the tamales with the over all rating being the same. These tamales were better than the ones I got two years prior. The other place gave you sauces on the side. Meaning the tamales were dry so here pour this on top. Overall, I'm looking forward to going here to try more items on their menu as the food looks delicious on their website. Oh yes and the champurrado was also good. It wasn't thick and...
Read moreA 💎 in the ruff, the 🏠 tamales built is alive and well in SF Valley.California Tamale House seems to have mastered the art of homemade tamales on a large scale. I had the beef/red & chicken/green and both had good seasoning, textures, delicious sauce and a good ratio of meat to Masa. The Masa was also tasty. It had a nuttiness reminiscent of hand/homemade from scratch and the texture was good to we're it didn't crumble too much after steaming. The side of refried pinto beans was excellent and the rice well seasoned, fluffy and delicious. In my experience, rice can be tricky ;; sometimes dry or not seasoned properly. Getting here is easy, PARKING can be a challenge! So if you have a hunkerin' for good Tamales/ Mexican food, I would definitely recommend you give C.T.H a try; MMM, MMM Rico!! Don't...
Read moreI did order for delivery through 3rd party app. I got a green salsa chicken tamale, a sweet strawberry and cream cheese tamale, sweet corn tamale, a tamale breakfast that comes with 2 eggs rice beans and a tamale of your choice, also got a green chilaquiles breakfast with scrambled eggs. The breakfasts were not great! Bad presentation and small portions on rice and beans! The tamales were really good so from now on ill stick to ordering only the tamales! I'm addicted to the sweet strawberry tamales! They are pricey tho. Almost $4 for the meat tamales and corn and the other sweet tamales are almost $3. So I won't be coming here often just when I really want tamales! But I will recommend trying them at least! The green salsa chicken tamale was a good size and very moist inside not all dry...
