So we haven’t been to La Fuente’s in quite a while. But we did order take out often during the pandemic when we were laying low. This restaurant is a place we’ve been going to for many years and it is place that is close to where we live so we like that. But things seem to have gone downhill significantly. The Waite staff never was the most diligent but it was relatively acceptable. I cannot say that about the experience we had with our waitress this first time back inside since the pandemic began almost three years ago. She wasn’t terribly useful in the effort to help us decide what to eat. Or drink for that matter. Whatever any of the four of us asked about, she said oh “it’s very popular” “everyone likes that”. It was as if they had given her a script to say and she just rattle off some words and she didn’t know anything about the food. Maybe it was her first week at the job. But it seemed to be something more than inexperience.
I could write pages about what an awful dinner experience we and our friends had but here are the main points:
Poor service Stringy on chips and salsa Super nachos were super BAD – microwaveds to an inch of their lives. Yucky guac and sour cream. Microscopic carne asada on top. Really a miserable dish. Drinks: Terrible wine, mediocre margaritas, and a thing call a Bloody Mary that was brow because they dump half a bottle of Worcestershire sauce in and skimpy vodka. And no Tabasco. Can you believe a Mexican restaurant without Tabasco??? AWFUL! House salads drenched in dressing. Eeek. Chicken burrito – arrives looking like its wrapped in cardboard not tortilla. Combo dishes were a bunch of mush Steak fajitas were really Green pepper and onion fajitas with a bits of steak. BLAH! Despite the lousiness of the food etc, we tried to laugh at what a weird awful dining experience we were all having. We chuckled at the reds flags that should have gotten us up and out before ordering main dinner. Oh well. Overall it was a shame to experience a restaurant with such prior success, be such an utter failure.
When we left, all four of us agreed that the old saying fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. None of us ever expect to return to La Fuentes or even do take out. Four long time...

Read moreMy father, sister and I visited this restaurant on a whim for what was supposed to be a quick lunch, but it ended up being the meal of a lifetime! On entering we were immediately greeted and placed at a table, there was plenty of seating space available. We were given complimentary tortilla chips and fresh salsa to snack while choosing our order. The host, Ricardo, was extremely friendly, easy-going and patient. He was very sweet and even gave us each a bowl of complimentary lentil soup, truly a wonderful treat. We ended up ordering the Kesabirria Tacos, Huevos Rancheros and one of the house specials, the Zarandeado Fish. The dishes were delicious, fresh and filling, and absolutely worth the price. Each dish came with some amount of Mexican rice and beans, and there was much food to go around between the three of us. My personal favourite was the Kesabirria tacos, with the slow cooked Argentinian beef that was bursting with flavour. The restaurant was clean, had ambient lighting, comfortable seating, great music and it was decorated with unique and colourful cultural artworks. Also, although we didn’t take advantage of it, there is also a bar available, with an extensive drinks menu. As a college student who is new to the area, I’m glad to have found such a wonderful and authentic Mexican place in the vicinity, and I’m definitely going to come back here with my friends sometime soon. Thank you so...
