Moving to a new city can be an exciting adventure, but it also comes with the challenge of finding new restaurants to explore. As a recent transplant from Chicago, I was eager to try out the local dining scene in San Jose. One restaurant that caught my attention was Zone Rosa, known for its enticing menu and vibrant ambiance. Unfortunately, my experience at Zone Rosa left much to be desired, particularly in terms of the service provided by the front desk staff.
Unwelcoming Front Desk Service: Upon entering Zone Rosa, my mother and I were greeted by a front desk staff member who seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic. We politely inquired about the waiting time, hoping to gauge how long we would have to wait for a table. However, the staff member's lackadaisical attitude and procrastination made us feel unwelcome right from the start.
Procrastination and Lack of Communication: Despite asking for the wait time three times, the desk front staff member seemed to deliberately ignore our inquiries. This led to a frustrating and uncomfortable situation where we were left wondering if our presence was even acknowledged. It is disheartening to experience such behavior, especially when trying to enjoy a meal in a new city.
Unreasonable Waiting Time: After persistently asking for the wait time, the staff member finally responded with an hour and a half. This waiting excessive time left us astounded, considering the restaurant was not overly crowded at the time. It felt as though we were intentionally being disregarded and dismissed, which left a sour taste...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Zona Rosa today around 3 pm. We were greeted by a waiter (wearing a hat- I’m mentioning this just to clarify) who informed us that the kitchen would be closed for 30 minutes. He suggested we wait at the bar and promised us that the first round of drinks would be complimentary. Despite the waiter's assurance that the drinks were on the house (he mentioned it twice), when we received our bill the charges for the drinks were included. When we brought this up with the staff, particularly the lady who took our order, she denied the existence of any such offer (also the kitchen was never closed). Seeking clarification, we approached the waiter who initially offered, only to be met with hostility and attitude. He claimed that the complimentary drinks were only applicable if we had chosen to sit at a table, not at the bar. This discrepancy in information was not only misleading but also deceitful. Feeling cheated and disrespected by the waiter’s dishonesty and rudeness, we paid our bill without leaving a tip—a rare occurrence for us. Unfortunately, the incompetence and arrogance of one individual tarnished what could have been an enjoyable dining experience. Zona Rosa, take note: unless improvements are made in both service and integrity, your reputation will...
