Mariscos Altamar — Restaurant in Los Lunas

Go somewhere else! The only nice thing I can say about that place is that it looks pretty. That's where the fun stops. This staff is unprofessional, unclean, and the food is less than mediocre. If you go on the app Next Door, or on Facebook, you can read all about what goes on in that place when the owner is not there, because I am not the only one who has witnessed this. Let me enlighten you here. They re-serve old food, they bully other coworkers in front of customers (in English and in Spanish), they don't serve the customers their food on time or at all sometimes, they make fun of people, theyre rude, and they drink on the job. They also over-serve and there have been bar brawls there. They obviously have no respect for the owner, themselves or their customers. It's just a family place where they can "be themselves". What a joke. I will never darken their doorway again. I don't understand how it has stayed open this long. We deserve better in Los Lunas. These managers and waitstaff are making the owner look like a fool.

Btw...I ordered the steak and lobster. It was overpriced and nothing to write home about. Try Sakura, The Luna Mansion or Teofilo's. That is where I choose to...

They have a wide variety of Mexican cuisine here, including Mexican seafood. Our favorites are the Tilapia and Marisco's Specialty Plate. We have always really enjoyed the food here. We would recommend going after 5 or 6 in the evening, though, as the wait staff in the evenings is much more attentive than the wait staff during the day. We have always gone in the evenings, and the wait staff has always been awesome! They are very attentive and always make sure all customers are taken care of. Today was the first time we have gone during the day. It was slower than when we normally go but the wait staff was terrible. Our waitress kept forgetting things from our order and kept bringing the wrong things. We were never able to get drink refills as she never bothered to check on our table throughout the whole meal. We opted out of dessert and decided to go somewhere else for dessert as we did not feel like waiting an extra 30 minutes or more for her to show back up. This was very disappointing as the food was still very much up to standard, but the service was extremely lacking. Definitely will not be going back during the day...

Edit: I'm very disappointed with the service I received on 9-2-22 for dinner. It all started with the hostess, she was extremely rude and not friendly, when we walked in the hostess was in a conversation with another employee, when I approached her she seemed bugged we Interrupted her conversation. She seated us in the dining room and basically thew our menus on the table and walked off as I was trying to tell her I wanted a different table; I took the initiative grabbed our menus and walked over to sit at a table in the bar. Then we got our server, who I believe the hostess told to take care of us since we moved and we were the only table she had in the bar with the rest of her tables being where I did not want to sit. This led to extremely bad and slow service, my drinks sat at the well so long the ice melted and they were watered down, my water glass sat empty, and my wife was not happy. This really makes me sad because I vote with my dollars and when the pandemic was in full swing I would get food to go weekly to support a local business and this visit to the restaurant changed how I feel...
