I placed a takeout order and waited for it to be filled. I paid a tip the desk clerk requested. Once my order was ready I was informed that one of the items I paid for was no longer available. It was available in the display case when I placed my order. I questioned this and was told the item was needed for another order. The server was just going to short me without a refund and was being rude about it. I later learned this was the manager on duty. I then suggested they substitute another item in its place. At this point I was mad with the employee’s attitude. A second employee was laughing at me. So I asked for a refund for the difference in the price shown on the product in the case. The employee told me that I actually owed them money to which I asked how and why. I was told that the prices marked in the case were wrong and that the prices were higher. I explained that was fraud and the I would only pay the advertised price. The manager said she did not know how to issue a credit. She said that corporate had not sent new price tags but that they increased the prices in the computer. So she admitted it was fraud. I have pictures of the prices in the case and the prices I was charged on my receipt. They do not match! I was fraudulently charged!!! I tried to call the corporate office in Dallas but they only have an automated phone system. I left messages with the Complaint line, the CEO, and the COO requesting a return phone call. No one ever called me. This restaurant group are con artists. I’ll will likely never seat there again. I urge everyone to be careful and check your receipt so that you too are not ripped off!! I came here for brunch with my family, and right off the bat the lady taking our order at the register was rude and curt. Many items on the menu were unavailable, and each time we tried to order something else she was very curt and visibly impatient. This alone would be fine, as I've eaten at many other similar places but still overall had good experiences. This was not the case here.
I ordered a French Onion soup bowl, but instead received a Country Potato soup cup. We ordered three iced teas, and were given cups for self-serve, but they neglected to tell us that the ice machine was not working until after we'd already paid and gotten our receipt. So we had lukewarm sweet tea, which as many of you know is just as described. Lukewarm.
Typically these are issues I would bring up and ask for corrections on. But I was so defeated upon dealing with the whole ordeal that we decided to just cut our losses and eat what was there.
Also the bathrooms were disgusting. This is not a deal breaker for me as I've had many great experiences with hole in the wall places that have amazing food. Not the case here of course, but it was just the topping of the...

Today my husband and 7 year old daughter came to have lunch. I have been in the hospital since Wednesday and haven't been available to get their close organized. I can only assume they weren't looking put together as it has been a huge struggle for our family, with me in the hospital. They came in and where completely ignored. 2 other groups that came in after them were helped before them. When they finally did get acknowledged, the staff said, "what do you want, some soup?" My daughter was mortified and in tears. They went back to Cafe Degas, where they ate on Thursday, and were again treated with much respect. We have been to La Madeleine on a regular basis.
