I used to love to come here before at the old Sweet Handkraft location. I always loved to come by, almost weekly, to purchase a cookie and a cup of the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and was greatly looking forward to the re-opening.
However, today I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life and it was with a man who claimed to be the business owner, of all people. Today, when I bit into my cookie, I noticed it was stale and hard. My coworker tried a piece (she also loves their cookies) and agreed with me. I decided to return to the business to see if I could exchange the cookie with another. I figured they made a simple mistake, happens to the best of us. BUT the owner then told me that the cookies are supposed to come out that way (aka, hard) and that he can microwave it for me. I'm sorry, but if I microwave stale bread, it will also soften--that doesn't mean the bread is fresh. I think most people can recognize a stale cookie when they eat one. I asked the staff when the cookies were made, she said this morning. So they make all their cookies before opening at 11am and still serve the same cookies 9 hours later?? Ok.
Oh, but it gets worse. The owner refused to switch out the cookie for another, so I asked for a refund. I purchased two items, but I only asked for a refund on one. Not a single employee knew how to do a refund. NOT EVEN THE OWNER. After messing around on the register for a few minutes, he handed me a receipt and told me the money would be in my bank account in one week--which is about 5 days longer than any refund would take. No bank takes a full week for a refund, but whatever.
It still gets worse. The refund on the receipt shows the last four digits of the card that was granted the refund. THE "OWNER" GAVE MY REFUND TO THE WRONG CARD. Whose card? Who knows. But it was not the last four digits of mine. When I told him that, he told me that I was mistaken and I should contact my bank.
So how does my story end? With a very unsatisfied customer, who paid for a cookie she did not get. No cookie. No refund. I think I just got robbed.
TLDR: The new Sweet Handkraft location is selling stale, hard cookies and trying to pass them off as fresh. Also, they are only pretending to give out refunds. BE CAREFUL!
They have lost a very loyal customer. I have a background in customer service. I did not raise my voice. I did not cop an attitude. Check the cameras.
This whole situation could have been avoided if the "owner" had just exchanged the cookie for...
Read moreLet me start by saying the ice cream I tried was absolutely delicious! I tried the Cookie Monster Ice cream and added whipped cream, sprinkles and had it drizzled with chocolate syrup. The ice cream had a creamy, sweet, fruity taste with chocolate bits inside. I decided to get the waffle cone as well (honestly for aesthetics purposes lol) but it was actually pretty good! I normally donât care for cones because of how hard they typically are but this waffle cone was a nice blend of crunch on the outer ends but soft inside.
I kind of wish I wouldâve received friendly customer service. I asked one employee if there was a taste testing limit/ if I could try 3 samples? To which her reply was âA taste testing limit.. well itâs kinda just common courtesyâ. Hmm weird response lol and she didnât really answer the question either. I decided to go with the Cookie Monster flavor because I noticed it was almost gone so I figured it was a fan favorite.
However, I wonât hold that weird encounter to represent the overall customer service of this business. I observed another employee who was waayyy more pleasant. Another lady walked in and said how this was her first time at the ice cream parlor. To which he replied something along the lines of âgreat, if you walk over here I can tell you about each other the flavorsâ as she and her children proceeded to try several ice cream choices.
Either way, the ice cream is pretty good, clean store and the neon NOLA sign makes for a...
Read moređ Iâve been dying for Sweet Handkraft to reopen!!! So excited to finally leave a review. I love love love this place! The store is now located across the street from LaMadelines & Dragons. In terms of parking I feel like itâs a bit harder to find parking since they are located next to two salonsâŚ. And harder to spot unless youâre looking for it. In terms of items I love that they are being unique and original with stuff they serve! I love their new ice cream flavor Sakura matcha đ (I legit used to have to buy the powder for this flavor). Letâs not forget how innovation theyâve become with their ice cream foam options. As someone who works at a coffee shop I was sincerely impressed with the idea of using durian, pandan, and ube as a combination for coffee! Letâs not forget the iconic egg coffee. Sweet Handkraft made me feel like I was in California again with the Southeast Asian flavors! đ sad they no longer serve mochidonuts but rumor has it the mochi beignets are better. Havenât had the cookies again but def got some macarons and they were giving so much life. đ° my only not so happy comment is the dining space. I feel like thereâs so many cute photo ops but the set up of the space doesnât allow for people to both dine and take pics. Space looks bigger but feels tighter. Also kinda sad thereâs only one familiar face that still works here other...
