Nothing brings a burst of hearty laughter than unrehearsed Life moments. Keeping it real. Speaking of keeping it real on Sunday, February 16th we visited REVE Coffee Lab, located in Village at Willow Grove shopping mall in Oak Hill Place,Louisiana, one of the most affluent suburbs of Baton Rouge. It boasts an urban style interior with outside seating. The establishment was bustling, which speaks volumes about their business.

We ordered two lattes and Salted Honey Buttered Croissants. The initial taste of the Chocolate Latte was like a sweet hug without being clingy, whereas the Lavender Cappuccino was like that one aunt who just won't quit being bitter. But then a bitter note like a grumpy old man snuck up on the Chocolate Latte, like a party crasher, and ruined the vibe.

The pretty golden brown croissants we requested to be warm came cool as a cucumber, or should I say Cool Hand Luke. Although they featured a pleasant honey butter glaze, it was washed out by the salt sprinkled on top. And let's get real, the texture was a total giveaway - it was like they took a can of Pillsbury bread, rolled it up, and pretended it was a croissant.

I mean, where were the nice layers and flaky goodness? I tell you no where to be found. It basically was unarmed with warmth, heavy, bready imposter, but hey, at least it was edible, and that's a plus, right?

Was it a bad experience? The grub and drinks were a total fail, but the vibe was super energizing, the tunes were just right, and everyone, including us, was having the time of...

This place is seriously one of the top coffee shops that I have been to in Louisiana. Aside from the warm vibe and very cozy aesthetics of the shop, this place is perfect for getting work done but also the perfect place for a conversation over coffee with a friend. This coffee is not just a cup of coffee but coffee that is very well crafted and consistent. What sets them apart is how fresh their beans are in comparison to other shops around. I usually order a pour over of their latest foreign bean and every time my cup of coffee is filled with amazing aroma and flavor. The management here is phenomenal as well and you can see it through their employees. Connor Campo was there one time taking my order and he knew how to talk coffee like no one I had ever heard. They are very personable and truly have their baristas trained right. They do not just know how to craft coffee, but they also are well knowledgeable on the background of the coffee that they are serving you. They are also very helpful when ordering even if you are not quite sure what you want. Their small food items complement their coffee options really well. If you are in BR and are looking for a amazing cup of coffee, this is truly the place. You will never be...

Stood around for a good 5 mins before we were even acknowledged by Jordan at the front counter to have our order taken. I've worked in service industry for 10 years (bartender and server) and if you're busy (which they aren't) at least acknowledge your customers and say I'll be with you in a moment." Which she didn't. Then while taking our order, as my husband is telling her what we want, she starts talking to her friend at the counter cutting my husband off and says "yeah bring us crawfish!" proceeding to miss our drink order. So after having to repeat ourselves by her lack of attention span, we chose not to tip. Then, when Jordan brought our food (which you get table numbers handed to you). Instead of choosing to look just to the left hand side of the door, she auctions off and asks "Adam" searching instead of looking for table #2. Embarrassing...

I've heard good things about this place. Their menu has a good variety of coffee options and specialties neatly laid on a clipboard. I wound up getting a cantina blue (espresso, milk, blueberry layer, and butter pea flower), which tasted pretty good to be honest. The bottom layer had a good blueberry taste to it. There isn't that much seating inside because it's a small interior and lots of students studying. At the back side of the coffee bar, there is some bar seating. With the circular seating at the tree, there is a row of outlets and some by the walls. However, if it's sunny and nice (not raining), I recommend sitting outside for a chat.

The aesthetic of this place is cute and cozy. It was quiet despite it being packed, so it seems like a nice place for people to get work done/to read peacefully. This place has dog bowls outside, so it does seem pet friendly. I recommend that you sit in the patio area since it is properly shaded and contributes to the cozy/peaceful feeling. The baked goods were okay and the coffee was also just okay. I don't think I will order their simple drip coffee again because it did not go down smooth. Even so, I will come back to try their other drinks since maybe they'll be more plesant.

So very disappointed in this Reve location. We are frequent visitors of the original Reve’s in Lafayette as it’s one of our favorite coffee shops. Unfortunately this BR location is nothing like them. The cappuccino and latte had no froth let alone latte art. Picture 1 is when it first came out and the second is 1 minute later. The espresso had a burnt taste and the temp was too hot. Hopefully it’s just a learning curve for the baristas and they can hopefully bring it up to the expectations of the original Reve.
