I remember when the Barataria, Marrero store was being built and have been going there whenever I'm getting an urge for good barbecue. I've been to a lot of BBQ places on the west and east bank of New Orleans and can say that Shane's is my favorite. I have never had a problem with the staff. Very polite, if you ask me. Just today, the girl at the front desk apologized for the wait in line when I was going for putting my order in, which I wasn't expecting. With regards to people talking about the hard or softness of the ribs, I can say that I've noticed the meat between the bones is the softest, but the outer-top parts are a little rougher. I'm not a biologist, but I would guess that's how that kind of meat works. . I've noticed the same characteristics of soft/hardness differences from other bbq restaurants I've been to, except that Shane's usually has softer ribs. Price-wise, Shane's beats other restaurants in the same genera that I've been to. The smoked, pork and bbq flavor in their ribs is very good (in my opinion). Price-wise, I think Shane's has a decent pricing system. Bbq (regardless of the restaurant) isn't typically the most cost-effective dining solution, so don't go in expecting that. I hope Shane's stays in business for many years to come. They are definitely part of my restaurant 'circuit' that I make, with all the choices for food that this area of the world...
Read moreVery disappointing. The ribs we received were very tough, chewy and needed to be carved off the bone with a knife. Worst quality ribs I've ever encountered. The staff that provided the food were rude when we picked up our order, acting very immature, and more focused on screwing off with other staff. The order was incorrect. Each order was placed online, marked with a name for the party (none of which were labeled). One individual ordered the Grilled Chicken Wrap, as a combo, and we never received the side of coleslaw nor the drink. This container was also smashed beyond recognition at the bottom of the bag, with it's cheap styrofoam container broken at the hinges and the top was caved in. The sides of sauce were all marked on each order. This was NOT followed by the staff, and only a few random sauces were added. NOT what was requested. The grilled chicken tenders that were packed into one of the orders were tough, and extremely dry. Needless to say, they went straight to the trash.
I cannot advise for eating IN this place, but after this experience, it's likely I would not, nor would I recommend it. The only plus side, would be at least you could complain about the food in person.
HIGHLY recommend never ordering to go or delivery from this place at this point. I cannot say that I would give this place another chance at the...
Read moreI ordered this understand it was a franchise but the experience was even more underwhelming then I could have imagined
Starting with the positive the sweet chili sauce on the chicken tender was excellent. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end
The Onion rings were horrible I cannot emphasize this enough they have a freezer to fryer experience which is disappointing because they were a up-charge
The Mac and cheese had a strange grainy texture as if it was made with a béchamel but it was done incorrectly
The Ribs had a strange grey-ish color that is normally associated with boiling ribs. They could have been better if they had the sauce I requested but I only got a half filled container with 1 of the 2 so it had to be rationed out
Lastly the pulled pork had practically zero flavor. It was extremely disappointing that the only bites of it I enjoyed was placed on the slice of toast that is provided and I could only assume that’s because the salt from the butter that was on the toast
If I could go back and not place this order I would but the establishment has so little traffic I should have seen the red flags as soon as I saw it. I wasn’t expecting the world’s best BBQ but my experience with the franchise is normally enough to satisfy the craving. That didn’t...
