I went with my partner on a Sunday night. We were greeted at the door as soon as we walked-in. The menu had a wide variety and it all sounded good. We had trouble deciding.
We got the pakoras ($6.99) to start. They came out hot and fresh. The batter was crispy and seasoned well, spicy but not unpleasant. The raita for dipping completed the dish…there wasn’t a drop left after the last pakora.
My partner got the Channa Chicken ($11.99), masala with chickpeas and green peas. The flavor was dense and absolutely delightful. The chicken chunks were not over-cooked and it was well seasoned. Again, spicy but not aggressive. Perfect for a cold night.
I got their special chicken dish called Lahori fried chicken ($12.99). Probably the best fried chicken I’ve had a minute. Crispy, salty, and moist, it was essentially chicken cooked in a tandoori and then lightly battered and fried. The chicken practically fell off the bone and the lahori spies were unparalleled with anything I’ve had before, a very unique and genius dish.
We got a side of Aloo Mutter (11.99), a curry style dish with large chunks of potatoes and green peas cooked with turmeric. Spicy and tangy, it was a good pairing with the fried chicken.
All dishes were served with a large plate of basmati rice and some fresh nann. I used my spoon to scoop heaping lumps of masala on the nann, quickly shoveling rice in my mouth afterwards.
Essentially we ordered 3 entrees plus a starter, way too much food, but very worth it. Our check came out to $51 plus tip, which is cheaper than similar restaurants...
Read moreI stumbled across this place earlier this year when I was looking for an Indian restaurant after grad school. Pakistani food is very similar so I thought I would give it a try since it was literally right there in front of me. I have extensive experience eating at similar restaurants. Overall, I was very pleased and have been back several times. The restaurant is always clean and the employees are friendly. I've made it a point to ask questions each time I visit and they have always answered me with respect and manners. You wouldn't believe how many servers I have spoken to who acted like answering a few questions was a burden, but not here. The restaurant itself is not fancy. In fact, it's very similar to a chain such as Panera Bread. I believe that this is a good thing sometimes because you don't always want to go to a fancy restaurant. The place is quiet and comfortable and, to me, that's really all you need for a relaxing place to eat. The food itself is quite good. I try something new every time and have not been disappointed. I normally don't eat many chicken dishes, but I got one here that was phenomenal. The price is very affordable for food of this type and would be great for lunch or dinner. I don't know if I would necessarily bring a date here, but definitely friends or family. If you are in the area and looking for a great place to eat Indian or Pakistani style food then I would highly recommend...
Read moreOn 5/30/24 at about 4:30 pm; I stopped by and ordered a meal to go, as I customarily do. While sitting and awaiting my meal, a man walked in and placed an order concurrently. During this time, he and I were the only two occupants. I was monitoring my phone and listening to the news. Suddenly, the guy proceeded to change the TV without due consideration. I subsequently asked him, did he work at the restaurant? He stated that he was a frequent patron. I made him aware of his disrespectful behavior. He then apologized and said; "I thought you were on the phone." I then stated that multitasking is very normal in this technological age. He then apologized. However; my issue is that the establishment witnessed the incident and never addressed it. The waiter gave me a (whispering apology) as I was departing but never addressed the guy at all.
I always enjoy the food but I will NEVER spend my money there again.
I NEVER expected such disrespect and barbaric behavior in a possibly "native" owned, restaurant!
In fact, the man who displayed such poor manners, was given the remote by the server, who is otherwise; great at his job.
I thought, of all people; (they) should know something about being disrespected.
We're in a sad season in America!
