O’Sheas at night has a really great outdoor bar area. We went there for drinks after my sisters wedding with the bridal party around 10:45. I got off of the party bus first with my husband to get in line and let them know we made it. As I was going in, a young girl came to the front to meet her parents. She had been drinking, as we were at a bar, snd the staff actually told her parents “sorry, you two can come in but your daughter is not allowed back in.” The mom was genuinely shocked and asked what the daughter did for I think she was embarrassed, but all they kept saying was she was a liability. I’ve seen countless of drunk people who need to be sent home and this young lady was not one of them. I found it odd but kept to myself. As I was paying my cover the young man working the front motions toward our group and says “now I’m nervous about this group headed in.”
Our group waited in line, paid covers, and started coming in to get drinks. Not even 3 minutes in to paying the staff starts causing a scene that they can’t let in one person in our group; the groom. Again, this young man in a weird, unnecessary vest would only say he was a liability due to his intoxication. However, he was walking normally, held a conversation, and was polite while I kind of pleaded this vested man to let him in. I told him it was my sisters wedding, it would mean a lot if he could let the groom in, and he wasn’t a problem. No one in the group was too far gone as it wasn’t even 11. The vested man just made up some line that he could “drive home drunk and they would be liable” but I motioned toward the bus that was taking everyone home in an hour. No one there could drive. Of course he would not let up so I had to go grab everyone who had conveniently already given the bar cash for the cover and got stopped by a group of girls thanking me. This guy with a man bun and best often denies one friend in a party due to a “liability” that he cannot explain.
I am writing this review mainly to warn groups of friends and tourists not to make this part of your plans due to the embarrassment they will cause you. In addition, they’ll happily take your cash cover for a group then backtrack on entry. Not...
Read moreWe have been traveling for over 15 days, visiting SC, TN, and KY and have been too a LOT of restaurants.
Food: My wife and I both agreed that this was the best burger that we had (Patrick burger). My kids loved everything they ate as well. Prices were great, especially for downtown.
Guinness: Of course the Guinness needs to be rated. The quality/taste was excellent. The pour was correct by all bartenders. I did notice, however, that they pour in 2x different style glasses - 1x Imperial Pint (20oz) Non-Guinness glasses, and 1x American Pint (16oz) Guinness glasses. Certainly the Imperial pints were preferred for value, but then again - a proper Irish pub should always pour in an Imperial pint Tulip glass or new-style Guinness Glass (however, people tend to steal them - so I get it). Anyway - recommendation to O'Shea's: American Pints are garbage for Guinness, no one likes drinking out of those.
Service: A+! Don't you hate it when you're at a place and it seems like you are inconveniencing the staff by asking questions or ordering? Not here. Everyone at the bar was friendly and seemed genuinely interested in you, they were all extremely helpful and great to talk to --huge tip left @ this place!
Atmosphere: I frequent Irish pubs in many cities and can say that O'Shea's is 100% a legit Irish pub with a touch of class added. No Bud or Miller signs, or annoying sportspub style - old-world wood, booths, huge wood bars (and order at the bar). The space is HUGE, Upstairs (classy dining), main pub (huge space), and really cool downstairs area - kind of lounge-space. My pictures are from the upstairs bar - even though there was no staff, they let patron go check out these areas (also very cool of them to allow this).
Overall, I was surprised by this place. It was huge, well ran, clean, and classy. One of the best Irish Pubs in the US... and I've been to hundreds - Highly recommend a visit if you are in or passing through...
Read moreMy husband and I had an excellent experience throwing a going-away party for my daughter and her husband for 40 people in O’Shea’s Highland’s Carriage House. We looked at several locations and decided O’Shea’s was a good fit. We liked the ambience, and my British husband said the Carriage House reminded him of an old pub. We also liked that it had adequate parking. O’Shea’s Highlands’ event coordinator, Crystal Bhagwandin, was a delight to work with. She answered my e-mails promptly and met us three times at the Carriage House prior to the party. Our family includes three members who have to have gluten-free food. We appreciated that Crystal explained how the catering menu offered a variety of dishes that could be adapted to be gluten-free. We had no idea how to handle the drinks, but Crystal outlined five different ways we could elect to handle beverage service and keep within our budget, which was very helpful. In the end, we spent much less on drinks than we had budgeted. The staff shined the Carriage House up for our party, and we loved the ambiance. The day of the party was gloomy, and the staff-lit fire in the hearth was a cheery addition to the room. We liked having access to the Carriage House one hour before the party started to put up decorations. The food was delicious and presented in a very pleasing way. Our compliments to the chef! Crystal set up a separate table for the gluten free dishes which were so labeled—this was very helpful for our guests. Lauren, our bartender, was very friendly. She took good care of our guests. We would definitely recommend O’Shea’s. This was our first time planning a party away from our home (outside of weddings), and I have to say it was fun! The application clearly laid out the terms and conditions, and having in-house catering certainly simplified the planning. We and the guests of honor had a...
