They have decent enough coffee, but they pretend like it's worth its weight in gold. Not only do they charge an arm and a leg for their whole bean coffee, they are pretty stingy when it comes to their in-house drinks too.
During a recent visit, I asked for drip coffee in a mug, and the barista, clarifying, asked, "You want a mug for here?"
"Yeah, that'd be great," I replied, thinking it was their unlimited refill option. After paying the approximately 8 ounce mug's $2 price, tipping the man, and drinking its contents, I asked for a refill.
"That'll be 80 cents."
"Oh, I thought the mug was unlimited refills."
"No, do you want to upgrade to the unlimited refill mug? It's an extra such and such...."
I was more than slightly disappointed. Don't you order a mug in order to get refills during your visit? Why would you pay $2 for a small mug of coffee when a larger paper cup's worth is similarly priced? Why would he have suggested a "mug for here" if not for unlimited refills?
To top it off, my disappointment garnered no sympathy from the barista. It's not like I expect them to just give away their products, but there clearly was a lapse in communication, and a dang cup of coffee barely costs anything.
Apparently, however, it was worth more to them than a...

Received a text coupon for 5 bucks off after having not been around for a bit. I tried to purchase a bag of Night Owl online, but it said the shop was not accepting online orders. Fine, I'll walk down the street and grab a bag, use the discount there. Nope.
Today - I went to the shop, and at first, the guys pretended like I wasn't there. Waiting with my son, and then seemingly begrudgingly attended to, things were already off to an unnerving start. I don't know if these guys have had a bad day, as it was a busy morning there, but it was a very stark contrast to all my previous visits.
I got the bag of Night Owl that I could not purchase online with the coupon code sent to me via text. Attempting to purchase it, they told me at first that it was just online only. Customer service pro tip: when you're not sure, don't lie to the customer. When I pointed out the coupon said in-store, they fumbled at the register, then said they didn't know how to redeem it.
I have typically had fantastic experiences with very kind baristas, but this was not that, at all. As such, I can't consciously recommend this place...
Read moreThis isn't the atmosphere for black customers these people in here are indeed bigots and show bigotry towards black customers. Trying out different coffee shops is me and my daughter's tradition and to see a small not globally known coffee shop in my neighborhood we had to try it. However we will never spend a cent here ever again! Upon walking in we wasn't greeted the white workers looked and turned back around. A white woman comes in and gets the ultimate greeting in unison from the workers that disregarded me being a customer. Even the manager was amongst the workers laughing when this incident was mentioned. I didn't see anything funny about their nasty acts and intentions. So black customers you have been alerted this is not the place that sincerely welcomes black customers. Spend your money elsewhere. Plus the iced latte brew wasn't even like that, it was definitely bland. We definitely had better from other...
