The restaurant was clean and customer service was okay. I have a few complaints though and hopefully what I say can help you guys improve.

Firstly, when I came in I realized it wasn't very packed even though it was rush hour lunch time. I can figure a few reasons as to why this is.

For $10-$12 there is hardly any meat or noodles. In other Vietnamese restaurants you can get better quality beef and a lot bigger portions for $5-$8. It's very overpriced for the amount paid, there should be way bigger portions. The beef quality was below average for the price being paid for it.

The soup base has too much salt in it, unnecessarily needed. Many Americanized Asian restaurants think that more salt added to the food will appeal to Americans more, but in most cases adding too much salt will be too overpowering.

I think for the price we are paying we should get bigger portions and you guys should cut back on the salt. There's too many Viet restaurants to compete to you guys that do those things already.

If you are going to keep the price at $10-$12 you definitely should give more meat and noodles and improve the beef quality.

But if not, I'd advise you to lower the price, because there is much other competition that is just as good if not better for a cheaper price.

I would love to see you guys succeed with this business and hopefully my words could give some constructive criticism to help...

Having lived on both coasts, in close proximity to an assortment of Asian cuisines, including Vietnamese, I'd have to say this is still one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've ever been to. The owner is fantastic. He is also the head chef. I think he might even be the only chef. He boasts that there is no freezer in the restaurant because everything is fresh. It tastes like that is true. I'm not even a big fan of Pho, but his broth was perfect; it had the flavor of a whole chicken, not just some mangy bones. The Mi Xao noodles are in perfect balance with the sauce, veggies, and meats contained -- it was like noodle candy, so sweet and tasty. I haven't eaten everything on the menu yet, but I might actually try everything at this place. The gateway to new cuisine and new dishes is a chef you trust. Tuan is that sorta chef. Go and go often. Louisville does not want to lose this...

The first plate is the Chicken Red Curry; the second plate is the Chef Special Wok shrimp and steak noodles. Both orders came within five minutes of ordering, which means it was not freshly cooked. I ate a late lunch 2 pm. The location of the restaurant is close to the Bellarmine University campus where students frequent the restaurant. Both meals were saturated with the main sauce possibly to hide something 😏 it was very salty. Maybe a good spot for college students but not for a date night or healthy meal. Priced about right. Maybe I came in a wrong time, but at this time I would not recommend this location to anyone. It can easily become a great destination to eat with a few changes to the recipes and atmosphere upgrades

Authentic, fresh and well-priced. Pho Cafe certainly brought back the memories of Vietnam for me personally. The Pho was fragrant and tasty, the Bahn Mi was fresh, crunchy and packed with the familiar tastes and smells. My son and I enjoyed the spring rolls and fried dumplings, devoured the awesome Pho and I greatly enjoyed the traditional Iced Coffee. Obviously, there are many others that agree by the abundant reviews here. If you haven't yet tried Pho Cafe...check it out ASAP! The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, the owner/chef was all smiles and masterful at recreating the feel of Vietnam cuisine. Well worth a visit and one of the best in the city!
