Gilligan's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Lower Paxton Township

We had a party of four. The hostess sat us right away which was great, but we then waited 10+ minutes for a server to come to our table or acknowledge us. Finally, a young girl introduced herself and asked for our drink order. Two of our party ordered IPA beers and two of us ordered water only. The server had to come back to our table 3 times to let us know that the beer that was asked for was out, which whatever, but this took another 10+ minutes and each of those times she came back empty handed. I'd assume she could have at least brought the waters, right? At this point I was just irritated and hungry. Dinner rolls and garlic bread were brought out, which was delicious. Our apps were brought out nice and hot. I ordered the crab and spinach dip but was quite disappointed because I tasted absolutely no crab whatsoever and it was served with tortilla chips. I guess I should've looked a little closer at the menu because usually hot crab dips/spinach dips are served with a type of bread or soft pretzel bite. Oh well, my mistake, but again, I was already irritated so a fair judgement is... it was good. The main meals were much better. Huge serving size, tasty and fresh. I had The Rachael sandwich, my group had chicken Parmesan, chicken Alfredo, and a specialty burger. Everyone was happy with their main meal. Then while deciding on desserts to take home, a party member found a fly in their water. Honestly, I know these things happen and are out of our control. What was upsetting was when the server brought him a replacement water, she also left the "fly water" on the table in front of him. Pretty gross. So, writing this the next day with time to calm down, the food was good, the atmosphere was actually fun and lively, but we will not be coming back. Read all the reviews and thought Gilligan's was a good choice. But it reminded us that we've been wrong before. It started out well, as soon as we walked in we were seated by a friendly hostess and almost immediately approached by an equally amicable waitress. One meal was Stuffed Flounder, which was ok but not real flavorful. The other meal was a New York Strip... Ordered to Medium. Since Medium varies from Restaurant, we asked what their Medium was and the waitress said 'Some Pink'. When the Steak arrived it was swimming in red. You could barely cut through it because it was so rare. Sent it back for further cooking. Within 5 min it was back and you could barely tell any difference. Sent it back the 2nd time. Came back and still red inside. Gave up. Probably ate 1/3 ... Both ends were eatable. After sending it back twice, at best it tastes like a warmed over steak. At no time did the waitress or anyone ask if it was now ok. As it was a special occasion neither of us feel like making a scene. Normally after sending a meal back twice, it is removed from the bill. Not even a portion of the total was taken off. Just a very disappointing evening. It certainly wasn't the waitresses fault but if the cook didn't take responsibility to send Management to our table then the waitress should've. This place has very good food. However, the customer service skills are horrible. This is the second time in a row i have ordered from this restaurant, gotten there after the pick up time and my food hadn’t even been started. The first time i got there 10 mins after my pick up time, stood for 20 mins before anyone even addressed that i was standing there. A lady came to me and asked had i been taken care of. I told her no i haven’t. She took my name and told me there was no order with my name on it.. i showed her my receipt and they got my food ready. No compensation nothing other then our machine didn’t pick it up.

The second time today. My husband stood for 20 minutes before a lady told him they had a group of 30 come in and they are running behind. We said okay. Went to the store and came back. Someone then came out and asked him his name. Told him someone put our order in but unfortunately never started making it. She did offer to throw a dessert for the mix up

This is just unacceptable! When you order food and are giving a time it is supposed to be made within a reasonable time. It’s not right to just blatantly ignore people when they come to your establishment....
