I've eaten at Mission BBQ a handful of times, but more recently I've been going more often. I've been grabbing the 2 meat sampler. Been there for lunch, and for dinner. I feel wronged and will most likely be my last time going. Previously, probably over a year ago, one of the staff members would come and check up on the guests. Asked if they needed anything, I even got a free side once. It was nice. The service was fantastic and it was something I would recommend. My most recent visits though haven't featured any of that hospitality. My last visit was the worst yet. I was severely under-ported. I even brought it up to the man I presume was the manager, but he shrugged it off saying "the sampler has smaller portions." I understand the sampler has smaller portions, I've ordered it before. But neither of them were such small measly portions. My guess is management changed. And instead of making up for lost food costs with proper training, they do it by ripping off a few unlucky customers. I've worked in poorly run restaurants before. This is common practice for bad management. I should have asked him to bring the scale out.

First off I never give a five star for any review but this place is truly special. When I first came in my expectations were low as ordering is done at the front in a line but when I sat down and tried the food oh my goodness...everything so tender salmon was cooked perfectedly not something I've ever seen happen till now. I got the sampler of 3 meats..salmon, pulled chicken and brisket wet...so tender, juicy and delicious. Corn bread boyfriend said was great too. I tried his smashed potatoes were real and great. Baked beans have brisket in them and for someone who don't like baked beans I thought they were good. Cole slaw was great even though I don't like celery seed. And there are no words to describe how absolutely delicious the peach cobbler is. This is definitely a MUST TRY. I will be seeing how the one back home is in the future as I was away when I tried this one. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and decor dedicated to the branch's of military.

Just for clarification: Do not be alarmed by the missing 1 star on food. This is just based on how I like my food. I'm 100% confident they would have fixed it to my liking. We were on a time crunch and pretty hungry. The food was excellent but I like my meat to be hot. The meat items were just luke warm. The bread pudding was great. The cheesy potatoes were great. The 5 bone baby back ribs were good the bark was a tad salty and should be hot. The pulled chicken was great but should be served hot. The pulled pork also needs to be served hot.. I'm have been to this location and the Opry mills mall location. I do not understand why veterans/active/retired with a valid ID card are not treated to a discount.. Same for the fire/police/ems etc. I know I know you have veteran vip. However, some of us do not live close enough to a location to warrant signing up for that.

This was my first time at Mission BBQ. My friend and I shared a combo meat plate and got sides to share. We had a mix-up with our order but the staff was quick to fix the problem and even gave us some complimentary items to make up for it. We had their turkey, brisket lean, pulled pork, and salmon for the meat. We had coleslaw, potato salad, mac and cheese, and collard greens for our sides. It comes with cornbread. Plus we got to sample their brownie for dessert which was very tasty. I would highly recommend getting their turkey and pulled pork. The turkey was tender, juicy, and not too salty. The pulled pork was also very tender. The brisket comes lean or juicy. I wouldn't get the lean style again it was dry and flakey. The salmon was dry and very fishy tasting. All the sides were delicious. They were flavorful with just the right amount of seasoning. My two favorites were the collard greens and mac and cheese. The collard greens were perfect not overpowered by vinegar. The mac and cheese was delightfully creamy. They provided six custom sauces at the table and a lot of other condiments and lemon wedges. They also provide wet wipes. This location was very clean, and the staff was fantastic. The atmosphere was a bit busy for my taste but the music was good. Overall I am very happy to have tried this place out. I'll be returning my favorite items and may try others out that I...

This place has a lot going for it. I like the atmosphere (big, open area), I like their mission, and I like the concept (fast casual setup - think something kinda like Chipotle or even Panda Express). You walk along the side of the restaurant (segregated from the sit-down area), walk up to the register (food and pricing is clearly displayed up above the counter area), and order your food. Then you walk to the side, they dish it up, and call your name. You can go sit down and eat or take it to go.

So that's the good. As well as good (and fast) service, good atmosphere, and relatively decent prices. Now for the not as good. The food was just okay. I got a three meat sampler so I could try a few things (brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey), and one of the sides (mac and cheese). Everything was a little on the salty side. I wanted to taste the meat and the smoke of the food, but I mostly tasted salt. The turkey was kinda weird, because it was a little...spicy I guess is the right word? It was like it had too much black pepper, which was bizarre to me. The brisket was also a little bit too fatty (I ordered it moist instead of lean, but there was almost as much fat as meat in my portion). The portions were also a little on the small size.

Like I said, not bad, just not great. I'm used to really great southern BBQ, so I'm probably a bit of a harsh critic, but...

Loved the York location, love not having to cross the river for Mission even more. I've seen some negative reviews and feel I need to clarify some things:

Brisket is commonly fatty. It has been everywhere I've ever gotten it. That's just the way it is. The 1 star review whining about fatty brisket? That's on him for not knowing what he was ordering and certainly not worth a single star, especially after noting two positive previous visits

The place hasn't been open long and is operated quite differently than many areas restaurants. All of the employees are new to the restaurant. There are things to learn and it doesn't happen after just a couple days working. The 2 star rating complaining about disorganization is also unwarranted. Every time I've been here, they've been slammed. Lines almost out the door and ever-growing. Despite this, I've never been in said line longer than 10 minutes. I think that's pretty amazing for a place so new with so much business

Great, extremely pro-military atmosphere. Friendly employees. Good food with some fantastic sauces (try the KC and Memphis Belle). And always busy from what I've seen. That speaks louder than any negative review. If the place was less than amazing, lack of customers would reflect that. Just try it. I guarantee...
