2012-2017 We love their broasted chicken, fries, and Nelson's Ice Cream - so yummy. Love the history and it's been a popular hangout since the 1950's and 60's. Watch for the Antique car shows throughout the summer. 6-30-21 6pm. New review for new restaurant. Lots of changes. Always busy. Heard it's really good from a friend. Gave it a try with a friend. Will try it again but not order what we did. I ordered lasagne and my girlfriend ordered a turkey club sandwich and fries. The waitress was brand new 2nd day on job. I'm always nervous when I open the menu and it's 8 pages long. I don't see how a restaurant can be great at all those items. Prices were very good. No broasted chicken so I doubt I'll get my husband to come. My salad was all iceberg lettuce. I should have requested romaine. My mistake. The roll made into garlic bread didn't get finished at home and I love garlic bread. The ok turkey club and cold fries were delivered long before my lasagne. She was down to just the fries when my lasagne arrived. The lasagne was ok but I'll keep looking for better in the Pottstown area. I have to drive to Pennsburg or Boyertown to get really good lasagne at a good price. I'll keep looking. 7-26-21 6 pm. Well I dragged my husband here because I wanted to give it another try and order something different. The waitress said they are known for their burgers and cheesesteaks. My husband ordered a burger cooked medium, french fries, and fried mushrooms. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fried mushrooms sat on their counter about 10 minutes after coming out of the fryer which must be normal. My husband said they were good. They usually come too hot to eat at most restaurants but these were perfect to eat right away. They forgot to cook my sweet potato fries until they delivered our food to the table which was fine. They arrived hot shortly after and were really good. The chicken salad sandwich was really good but came with a kick to it. It has fresh lettuce and tomato on it. However I could tell their was some kind of pepper in it which is not good for my IBS. I later found out it has Worcestershire sauce and spiracha sauce added. If you can handle those order it. My husband was disappointed in the burger. It was well done and dry. The bun to burger ratio was off. The bun was big. He said I wouldn't like the fries. Not crispy enough. Well, sadly we already have a fav place to get cheesesteaks and fries, pizza, beer, burgers. We miss the broasted chicken...
Read moreIf i could give this 0 stars i would... it’s a shame. I used to come her as a child and ever since they changed owners it has gone down hill. the food does NOT taste the same. I have always gotten clam strips and they now are apparently to lazy to make the homemade cocktail sauce like they used to and the clam strips were NOT cooked all the way and honestly i don’t think they were the same ones. Also the employees are so rude.ESPECIALLY the older woman(i was to afraid to ask about the clam strip because of her outrageous attitude, she was so rude to the young workers who were doing their absolute best (applause to them). Also, after leaving super unsatisfied i decided to look up reviews (i haven’t been there since they switched owners). The owners do not take criticism well they reply with the most unprofessional attitude. (Can’t wait to see what their response is to this review) Also, the place is so dirty, the tables and floor fine yes but the gross ceilings and bathrooms. The ceiling fans were absolutely caked with dust and grease. I don’t understand when you would take such a monumental place of the community and try to change it, especially since it’s been the same for YEARS. It’s an absolute shame. Lastly, we arrived around 7:30, the employees did not know how to fix the ice cream machine (which is understandable it happens) the older I’m assuming manager came and started yelling at these poor girls. Anyway on Fridays they close at 9:30 (or so it says online) i had gotten up to goto the bathroom around 9 and they already had the doors locked and lights off. This is just a shame. Also, what is that countertop? It doesn’t even match the restaurant. BOTTOM LINE.. it’s gone way way way down hill. (I’m ready for your unprofessional...
Read moreHeatwave this week. Make me hungry. Me hungry. Arriving early to Pottstown for an Appraisal Inspection, the old familiar Hilltop Hamburgers sign evoked a u-turn and stop and pop for breakfast. 8:51 am. Pull in to first parking spot. A hand full of cars parked. A young gentleman walked out with a grocery bag of food take out. Hopped in his jeep and peeled out of the lot. Walking in the decor and cosmetics is authentically mid century. The manner in which it is cleaned and stocked also appears authentically mid century. There are two types of people who will eat here. Those who will and those who won’t. Sure as the day is long, I will. Given the economy, like many places staffing appeared to be at a minimum. ordered a cup of coffee, which was good. There were roosters on the coffee cup. The half-and-half was Rosenbergers and served up in a cardboard hot dog tray. Small American flags lined the food counter and old time advertisements and wall hangings hung on the wall, including an old Coca-Cola clock. The staff was friendly enough, but definitely did not want to get on her bad side. I’m overhearing the conversations, it sounded like she was looking to get fired that day. Unemployment time. Breakfast burrito. Chorizo sausage. Fried eggs. Cheese. Pico de gallo. Was Okay. Filling and reasonably priced. Nevertheless, filled my belly and headed on down the road. Until next...
