For years, this intersection has been a monument to questionable driving and even more questionable fashion choices. But now? Now there's this. A beacon of… well, edible sustenance.
Remember those ancient Chinese buffets, where a single tray of crabs would emerge from the kitchen like a culinary holy grail, and patrons would instantly transform into ravenous hordes, ready to throw elbows and engage in ritual combat for a single crustacean? This place is slightly more refined. They have, like, a whole row of seafood. So, you know, less gladiatorial combat, more… strategic grazing.
My wife, a sushi aficionado (and connoisseur of impeccably fresh rice), claims the constant flow of customers keeps the sushi chefs on their game. Which, I suppose, is a good thing. Nobody wants rice that could double as spackle. And speaking of spackle, the kids' buffet is conveniently located as far as humanly possible from the adult dining area. A stroke of pure genius. It's like they created a designated zone for tiny humans fueled by chicken nuggets and pure, unadulterated chaos.
Beyond the kiddie corral, there's a vast and mysterious landscape of chicken, beef, and other… items. Plus a salad bar for the brave, a raw bar for the even braver, and a hibachi grill where a guy cooks things right in front of you, presumably for your amusement. The staff is surprisingly cheerful. They bring you drinks without giving you the "are you really going to eat all that?" death stare. They're probably just happy to not be refereeing a crab-fueled brawl.
So, yeah, I recommend this place. It's not exactly Michelin-star dining, but it's surprisingly… palatable. The prices are reasonable, the food won't actively try to stage a revolt in your stomach, and it's arguably the most exciting thing to happen to Bustleton and Street Road since they installed those fancy new traffic lights. Just… be prepared for the general ambiance. And maybe wear something stain-resistant. You've...
Read moreI went to Jumbo Seafood Feasterville this past Thursday. The service was adequate. I don't expect a lot when people simply buss my table and bring cold drink refills. Service has always been attentive. I used to visit when it was the Hong Kong Buffet. The menu has changed a lot. From what I encountered this trip not for the better I'm disappointed to say. The breaded shrimp was very greasy/oily. Not typical of decent fried shrimp. Had an oily flavor. The steamers and clams was way overcooked, dry and quite rubbery. Most of the food was very dried out. Even though the supply of food was constant the freshness just wasn't there as it once was.
The fruit was dry and not at all flavorful. The honey dew and the cantaloupe was both firm and crunchy with little to no flavor. Both melons should ideally melt in ones mouth. Crunchy simply means not ready to serve. No flavor means bottom of the barrel.
I didn't try it but the pizza did look fresh. Neither did I try the chicken nuggets. Being deep fried my feeling was they probably used the same oil that was used for the shrimp.
The fresh pick n peel shrimp did look appetizing. That's just an item I choose not to enjoy anyplace but home.
The price has also gone up roughly about as much as the quality has gone down. At just under $20.00 per person I feel it's fair to expect better quality than what is currently offered. At around $20.00 one can get all fresh food at most Asian type Take outs.
I used to visit 2-3 times a month when it was the H K Buffet. It has been closed due to the pandemic. Back then the food was always plentiful and flavorful. I decided to return when I saw it had reopened. Even if under a different name.
Maybe I just got there at a bad time 4:00 pm. Not sure. To be fair I will return again and hope for a better experience. I will then update this review if indeed it...
Read moreNever knew this place existed and I live 10 minutes away. I was browsing through tiktok for seafood restaurants and found this germ near me. I'm never going to crusty crabs again, they're over price and too salty and have no varieties either. I'm taking s trip to this buffet soon and try it then update my comment base on my experience!
Update: After trying out this place, I've decided to downgrade from all the 5 stars I've giving it. 1.The food was sub-par the atmosphere was not to my liking, too crowded, could barely get a table. There were people sitting there eating when I first walked in and were still there eating when I was leaving after 2 hrs I've been there eating. So you mean to tell me that people can sit there for over 2 hours eating while other incoming customers have to wait for a table? No wonder they couldn't find an empty table for us. People were just standing online for the cheap over cooked crab legs which had no real meat. This dude took over 6 trips to the crab legs and was waiting on the line every time I turned around, wich made me wonder if he was just packing up those crab legs in his bags or pants. There's no way one person could eat that many plates full with crab legs. Nasty people were coughing all over the food which made me lose my appetite and didn't even try other food or the hibachi.
Not the kind of place I'd want eat and won't...
