The best Latin food around. I've been here twice and both times I was blown away with how good the food is. The first time I got the empanadas (chipotle chicken and chicharron) and they were so good. They came with a chipotle sauce and I got a side of chimichurri and I could eat those every day. I liked them so much I paid for frozen ones that weren't fried so I could make them myself. On that trip I also got the street tacos with chicken and again some of the best tacos I've had.
On the second trip I went with some friends and we tried everything we could. The standout dish was the arepa. I've never had one before and the owner said you can really only find them in one other place in the city. You have to try it. Just writing this review I'm already planning my trip back.
Finally the service was exceptional. My buddy dropped a giant water bottle he brought in and we offered to mop it up for them but the employee insisted on doing it himself. He proceeded to mop it all up while roasting my friend in a light hearted way. We sat down and the food was brought out to us quickly and very hot. Everything was fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced.
There's a chipotle that just opened up next door and I'm afraid what it will do to this extraordinary small business. Go support local family owned restaurants. I promise it will be...
Read moreI went to Andale's this week. Let me say I've frequented this spot in the past but Monday was a little different. A white woman walked in before me and she must've been a regular there because everyone greeted her with smiles and warm hellos. Once she left, it got quiet as a mouse. The owner walked by me twice and didn't say a word, the other female employee walked by me twice and didn't say a word and the other female employee just looked at me and didn't say a word. NO ONE greeted me. NO ONE said anything until I said, "Are yall on break or something?" Then the owner told me that he'd be right with me. I got my food and left because I realllllllllllllllllllllllly wanted those dag on tacos. When I got back to work I called and complained to the owner how I felt there was some racism going on there because how is that they could speak to the white woman but not greet me? His reply was, "...it wasn't intentional." I told him that it felt pretty intentional to me because they intentionally didn't speak...LITERALLY! He asked me to accept his apology and said he'd address it. I assume he's going to address it with himself too. I told him I'll never step foot in there again. This is for the blacks, go where you AND your money are valued...and its not at this place!!!! You only get 1 chance to...
Read moreI was actually so excited to try this place as there is not many Latin option in the area. When I walk in, the MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WE ALL CRY FOR THE ONION SMELL I had to tell the server to do something about it as we were all crying and didn't even order Yet but I wanted to try as a Latin person! The place is ok, it has the idea of Spanish food but not truly auntenthic as I thought it would be. We order empanadas they were 3.5 ok flavor I also order arepas and they were 3 ok flavor. Service was ok nothing out of the extraordinary. I was truly hoping more for this place. To the owners. Please watch the place more you have the idea but need to implement more flavor more Hispanic flavor to the meat, the beans and rice; it could be better and impact more as a Latin idea. The arepas are way to dry, you could add butter a little bit more to add more flavor or more cheese once you put it in the warmer machine. Also you need to push the server to keep the place more clean, the server trow it everything around trying to provide a quick service but it didnt gave me a good image or feeling, i wanted to try the dessert but once I pay i had to run out, we all were crying including the baby. I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS ONION SMELL! It...
