Panda Express — Restaurant in Lubbock

This has to be one of the worst Panda Express location in the region. I go to a Panda at least once per month and have for years. This location during dinner on the weekends is always low or waiting on entrees( always the most popular). The entrees also just don’t taste like other locations. The food in the Pandas around DFW have way more robust flavor. This Panda has “bland tasting entrees”…even the signature orange chicken tastes like something out of a frozen meal. Enough said food second rate here. This trip the server placed one of my meals near register and another server placed a to go bag full of someone else’s food on top of an entree for my order. Had to make my server redo the dish as he wouldn’t have done it… even after he saw what happened. Other customers were standing around the cash register waiting on to go orders blocking the paths of those dining in.. looked like they only had one cook. Someone spilled a soda in front of soda fountain and employee wet mopped leaving a lake in front of the fountain while joyfully pointing it out to one of his coworkers behind the counter. It was slicker than snot in front of the soda fountain the entire time we ate our meals. Miracle someone did not slip and fall. I would think if food for thought went to this location they would have to close their doors until they were taught proper food preparation and cleanliness, but they never seem to go after the big chains. I frequent this location, and have decided last night will be the last. Everyone in lubbock wanted pandas, the drive thru was going around the parking lot causing traffic, so I went in. Been wanting Beijing beef all day, the lines long, but im patient. I'm watching the workers and at first I'm impressed, they are slammed, but providing great service. And great looking servings of food. Being polite, and even helping people order the family meal to save them some money which was causing the line to move slower, no problem, im all about saving a buck and appreciated seeing this. About 4 people in front of me, I heard the man ask for Beijing beef, they said 10 minutes. Now, by the time I got to the front to the order, a good 15 mins had passed, I asked how much longer for Beijing beef they said. 10 minutes. Ok, whatever. I choose something else. Now, after waiting all this time, one would think that the food would be worth the wait. It was not, and this visit was the last chance. Food has been sub-par for years, bland fried rice and chow mein, no flavor at all! and management picks and choses who they serve well and who they don't. Wish I took pics of the serving sizes cause they were laughable. After being impressed with management, I was then unimpressed when I heard the customer in front of me ask about the price, she said that she didn't want to "get in trouble" for not charging her the forty cents extra for whatever it was she ordered. I am sad to say that my experience here coming in at 9:25 p.m. when they close at 10:00 was a disappointment. I noticed that they were completely out of chow mein and the steam rice was completely dried up. I asked if they might make a small portion of chow mein for me. The lead told me no because they where keeping food cost down and that if I could get the steam rice instead. I asked again what time do they close and she said 10:00. I said okay and left without ordering any food, as I was leaving a family pulled up and I told them do not bother ordering any food they are not going to make anything more because they want to keep the food cost down. So they said thank you and drove off. Now I imagined the order I had and that family of four I believe they lost more profit just because the girl was so worried about food cost. I only speak this truth because I worked for this restaurant 11 years ago and if a customer walked in 5 minutes till close they made us make it regardless if it was just a panda bowl or a order for 100 people.
