SMOK'D Pit Barbecue — Restaurant in Lubbock

Have never made it out to their famous location out in Wolfforth but when they opened a second location inside the United near our house, we jumped at the chance to give them a try. This location may be playing second fiddle to the epicenter but it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly, the Brisket, Chicken and Green Chile Sausage were excellent. Moist and great flavor. I do appreciate the H‑E‑B being from Texas and all but Evie Maes in United is even more local for us than the H‑E‑B Texas BBQ which may be great for H‑E‑B locations in other places, but here we have the home town favorite, Evie Mays. No contest. As a bonus, the United has a tap house counter next to the Evie Mays counter and the beer went perfect with our BBQ, and happy hour from 4pm - 7pm. As a bonus, we ran into some friends we haven’t seen in a while and sat down with our to go containers and caught up....

Had to share a positive eating experience here, even though I was going in and one leg in 😁. I am a pretty good judge of Smoked chicken halves, since I have done many of these in my own backyard.This one was really juicy had a good flavor, not dried out. On the other half, were the sides. The green chili mac & cheese was very well done, And the baked potato casserole was also very good! The topper of it was the cornbread muffin! That was an excellent addition. The whole kicker to this was the lunch special with everything was out the door $9.75, That’s hard to beat for a good lunch. Service was great and very friendly. Would like to try other lunch, menu items in the future!...

AVOID We had the brisket and sausage. The brisket was so over cooked it as chewy, extremely dried out and hard. The sausage was either old or overcooked as well. So hard and dry. So many better places to get bbq in Lubbock. This is not one of them. Being in a grocery store should have told me. **Update...contacted as directed below in the response. No reply. Might want to just stay in your lane as a grocery store.
