40 minute wait, cesspool of grossness, and the food was just meh.... first problem, i ordered and the cashier was very helpful as i explained it was our first time there. He handed me the reciept to sign for our to go order and i rounded up the bill to make it an even number leaving about 1.72 tip for our to go order. Got a look like really?!?! Then we waited, and waited and waited.... 39minutes to be exact. Was never told that the wait was going to take that long... the whole time we stood there we got to watch whats really going on at this resturant. A manager walks up grabs a cup, fills a drink, refills it, then wipes the sweat from his brow, and continues grabbing food and despersing it!?!! Another gentleman not wearing a mask at all and handling food(maybe he already had covid? Maybe he has a medical condition to not need a face covering?) The cashier, who was the only one wearing gloves, answers the phone, touches everything and then handles food, all while never once changing his gloves. Then 4 employees start filing the ranch and marinara containers for the cheese sticks.... none of them wearing gloves or had washed their hands, scratching under their shirts, one guy took his hat off and ran his fingers through his hair, and they are all just filling cups as if there is no Covid in the world, or germs, bacterias ir any other viruses for that matter. I understand that its everyones choice on how they live through this pandemic but resturants should have a higher standard! The bathroom was digusting, smelled like urine and looked like it never gets cleaned. Then our food FINALLY came... by this time i am so grossed out that my hunger had turned into sickness. We get into the car and the reciept is stabbed through the first styrofoam box and is completely covered in differnt sauces, cheeses, greases and borderline unreadable. I was starving and had been reccomened to this place so I forced myself to eat one bite of everything... monte cristo was over cooked, not bad but not great. Fries were cold and had potential but were again COLD. The famous cheese sticks, they are so huge that i couldnt chew them properly. I tried swallowing several times only to feel like i was going to choke because the cheese is so thick. Then went to grab a napkin to wipe my hands and those were no where to be found either. Called in an order to Bryans steakhouse, and picked it up as we drove as fast as we could away...

We came from out of town and decided to try the Famous Shanky’s burgers 5/9/2025 for dinner We are new to town so of course we didn’t know what to order as we were many in my party 10 total yes it took some time to decide on what to order, as we had question about certain foods Needless to say we had the most rudest female cashier I have ever endured she was horrible no patience let us know she was not wanting to assist us because we were taking long to order once we finished ordering I paid with my debit card she provided me the receipt to sign I asked for a pen and this lady here threw the pen at me on the counter it took me with all I had not to come out of character , after I found a gentleman sitting at the bar I know he seen what had just happened , and asked if he was the manager he advise he was I explained to what had happen and he apologized of course and said he would make sure all of food would come out correctly he called the lady to the back I expected him to explain to her that was very unprofessional , but seemed I was wrong as she came out from the back just laughing and looking at me and talking to the other coworkers and they would stare and start laughing like we were a joke I do not know who I need to expedite this too, but will need to know the owners name and email to make sure he knows what kind of employees he has working there and our experience This was the worst 1st experience I have ever had at a burger spot We spent quite a bit of money to eat there as I know prices had gone up, and we got out food all at different time! I believe the front cashier may have been a manager as well as which is bad for business with someone like that running that establishment, I could only imagine how many others come in and get that same disrespectful experience My 1st and last time ever going and I will make sure I let others know that live in Lubbock Tx and that will go visit there as well Please provide me the owners contact...

I went in around 5-5:20pm today with a couple of friends. They ordered their food and I shortly (1ish minutes) ordered after them. We sat down and they received their food pretty quickly. I waited about 20ish minutes to receive mine after their order came out. I was debating on going up and just checking in on my order but as time went on I decided that I was just going to cancel it and get a refund due to my friends already finishing their meals. Keep in mind, there was only 3-4 people in the restaurant at the time we ordered. I was going to approach the counter after a group of people finished ordering to try and get my money back. After a long wait my food finally came around the corner and it was made incorrectly. I specifically ordered what I wanted to eat and I didn’t get what I wanted and I didn’t even get to eat. I asked the waitress after I told her the order was wrong if I could just get a refund and she said she was going to go get the manager. I waited another 10-15 minutes and she just brought back a receipt for a refund for less than I even paid. I didn’t start a scene, just signed the receipt and left due to how aggravated and annoyed I was at this point. The Service was not good, the time for one burger to get to the customer was unbelievably slow and the manager couldn’t even come speak to the customer or even make eye contact with me. I haven’t been to Spanky’s in years and after today I won’t be going back. I know one person not going back doesn’t really matter to y’all but I’m sure word of mouth does. Teach your manager to do better at customer service and act like he gives a damn. I frequent Double Nickel and I understand that it’s not the same level but I expected the customer service to be at...

Update: most of what was said still holds true today (3/17/2023). I will add...they lose another star because despite having salads on the menu, I would definitely order a burger or basically ANYTHING but the salad. My lunch date and I got the grilled chicken Caesar salad and suffice to say, I hope I don't get sick. It was browner than me & limper than Hugh Hefner (iykyk). That is all. Pics for reference. 🤢 This is a very "do it yourself" experience. Apart from getting your order taken, don't expect a lot of assistance from the people who stand behind the counter. This review will be to help the first timers like us. 1. More than likely won't be greeted when you come in or thanked for your service when you leave. Just go directly to the counter and put in your order before picking a place to sit. 2. Wait for your order before going upstairs!!! (There's a sign we didn't see that tells you what to do but not a soul will tell you even if you look lost/confused just FYI 😂😂) 4. Whatever you do don't use the restroom. It smells like a nursing home. 5. Bring wipes bc the cleanliness wasn't there on our visit. We basically bussed our own table despite there being more than 3 people standing around. Okay now that I got that out of my system ... The food will make up for lack of service IN TROVES. If you haven't heard, they do have (hands down) the best fried mozzarella in Lubbock. Burgers are great 👍come hungry!!! Food arrived in a timely manner & was hot & fresh. Now that we know what to expect, we will more than likely go back bc the food was THAT good!!

Our first restaurant to hit when we rolled into Lubbock for move in day. Parking is very limited so just be forewarned but they do have curbside:) You have the typical kids running the place but unfortunately NONE seem to remotely enjoy their job nor how to act like it, but cordial:( Menu options are awesome! Ordering a Ham & Cheese sandwich, Orig Cheeseburger with fries, Zucchini as appetizer, a few drinks and a Chocolate Shake(no malts). Well the Zucchini nvr showed up before the other stuff, so asked the girl runner if she could check and she acknowledged but after waiting 10mins and nvr seeing her again, went back up to the ordering counter to have them go check. Finally got there 10 mins later when we were obviously done and no longer wanted it but just took with us anyways and yes, ended up in the trash uneaten:( But the sandwich, Cheeseburger, fries, and shake were all very good. We may return bc the food was pretty good but WAY too many other opt out there. So I wouldn't rush for you to visit here as I'd have to recommend other places. This was recommended to us, so we tried it but they completely failed on 1st impression of service who cares but thank goodness the food turned out good, or we were hungry and a cardboard box would have been good. May provide an update if we return on any of our many future visits to Raider County!

This place really does have good burgers. The “He-Man Woman Hater,” is not just a clever name but a particular stand-out on their menu as well. But I will echo other reviews here and say that they do fall short in a few areas. They are “famous,” for their mozzarella cheese sticks which I will say are some of the largest I’ve ever eaten, but the batter encasing the fair amount of cheese is COMPLETELY lacking in flavor. Some garlic salt and/or Italian seasoning in the breading would work WONDERS for these cheese sticks which are otherwise pretty exemplary. I also found my son’s chicken tenders to be similarly lacking in flavor, which I honestly expected after tasting the batter on the mozzarella. However, my wife’s bacon grilled cheese was pretty phenomenal as was my burger. And the fries are sitting right on the fence of great flavor but too soggy. All in all I think the overall 4.0 Star rating got this place is fair. It is one of the better burgers in town, they just fall short on their side items in my opinion. The place is really clean and the staff is really friendly but be wary, due to the location it does tend to attract a sometimes-rambunctious college crowd.
