Honestly, when I signed to pay $700 a month for 12 months I expected a lot (I have covered parking which is $30 extra a month). The year prior I looked at every apartment/off campus housing option that was close to campus and none of them charge as much as the U club townhomes. I thought that for that kind of money there should be few problems and any that existed would be fixed fast. I was wrong. Off the bat the first thing that made me mad was that they will not let you move in until TWO DAYS before classes start. Two days is not enough time to settle in, especially when school starts just two days later. Everywhere else will let you move in about a week before classes start so think about that.
Then when I moved in, I had to submit 4 work orders. The bathroom door on the 1st floor was broken when we moved in and the door was in need of a new dust/insect guard. Those are things that should be fixed BEFORE someone moves in. Those two things were fixed within 2 days. However there was a leak/condensation up where the laundry and dryer are and they said its not worth fixing because its just condensation. Well that condensation creates a large puddle on top of the washer which my room mates and I have to clean up constantly. Also, I was trying to mount my TV and didn't want to cause any damage to the wall so after asking the front desk staff if there was a way they could help they said submit a work order. So I did and no one came. I then had to go to the front desk and have them submit two separate work orders for me for them to come help. Finally once they did come they said they would not help me because of liability.
The two grills by the pool are not maintained at all. I went there to grill one night and found that on one of the grills, the starter was not working at all and there was even a bag of potatoes someone had left god knows how long ago that has flies all over it and it was inside the under compartment of the grill where the gas hose/regulator is. The starter on the other grill was barely working and it only lights one side. I had to get a lighter and light the other grill by hand and I almost burned myself doing it when it ignited. When my room mate went to go tell them about it the staff said to just throw a match in and it would work. Only after yelling at them and calling them out did they say ok we will put in a work order for it. Some friends who have lived here longer than I have said they told them about the grills and did nothing about it. I doubt they will fix them. Also, they say with pride that printing is free for residents. We don't have to supply our own ink or paper. Well whenever they run out of paper instead of driving to the wal-mart that is one minute away and getting paper they just order it and wait for it to come. The printer has been out of paper for about a week now.
The staff is very nice but when it comes to getting things done around here they are of no help. Lazy is what they are. They lack initiative to do anything. The only thing I see them do is talk and have a good time at the front desk.
Live somewhere else honestly, this place may look really nice but until the management and staff step up and do what is expected its...
Read moreI took a chance on another american campus location after living at 2100(new apartments down the street) and loving my time there. UCLUB doesn't have as nice of a gym or pool but they have it. My unit at UCLUB was old and outdated and although maitence was quick to come by they did half ass jobs. I had an AC unit that was NEVER replaced over the two years there and it constantly froze over.(totally costed me extra money over the years and leaked through my cieling once and they never repaired damage fully) They fixed the freezing coils but it was constantly needing help and near the end my time there I had a window unit and so did my roomates on the second floor at times. Maintence at the time of the issue kept fixing it every time it broke saying they couldn't get me a new one because there was protocals before new units were given. Paying for a townhome will always be more expensive, but it was worth it to me in the beginning because you can't hear your roomates in their rooms and I had bedspace D so I was basically in rapunzels castle with a great view and nice light. From constantly having maintence issues with the old appliances and washer/dryer/AC it took so much of my time keeping maintence staff accountable for fixing things CORRECTLY. Managers almost always tried to get out of taking calls or seeing me at the front desk, so the college kids that answered the phone were always in the middle. I loved my home there, but if I could go back for how much I was paying I'd live at one of the newer apartments. Utilities ranged from 40-60$ making my 679$ rent look boogie at the end of the month. At the end of my time there they tried to blame a 100$ damage on me for my bathroom cabniet. I had accidentally took the handle off of one of the slide drawers because it was barley nailed into place to start with, and maintence told me it was normal wear and tear and could be fixed if I put in a request. When I recieved the damage notice they sent a picture to corporate with the drawer completely removed making it look like I stole or threw out the drawer entirely. I was a karen when I lived there, but it was because I wanted to take care of my home! Don't live here if you want to have things constantly breaking and no maintence staff that actually care and communicates effectively with managers/staff. Also don't count on your gated community always being gated since gates are broken and often not fixed. Although living by the side gate I came in and out of there luxiouriously having my scanner tag always working. Another big frusturation was when key fobs would stop working and half way through my two years there they stopped working for the office and gym entirely even when they "reprogrammed them." This apartment complex unless renovated will become worse over the next couple years and will get more and more overpriced. Crime rates seem to be going up. One night I came home at 2 am and as I got out of my car someone was getting arrested on the porch next to mine with a handful officers behind him. It was a love hate experience at UCLUB because everyone is fairly nice there, but could never help me enough to keep me from having maintence...
Read moreThe only positive thing I can say about this apartment complex is the common area is very modern and nice for a college apartment, but it ends there. Management was a revolving door. During the two years I lived at UClub there were 4 general manager changes and 3 assistant manager changes. Each coming with their own idea how to run the place. They are scam artists. One of my roommates broke the plastic trimming on a hanging lamp over the bar area and instead of replacing the plastic piece they charged us to replace and install ALL THREE new light fixtures because they were out of the one he broke. They tried to charge us $120 in damages and said that was for only the replacement of the ONE lamp that was broken and they were cutting us a break by not charging us for all three. Eventually we fought them down to $60, a much more reasonable price to replace a single broken lamp.
Routine maintenance was not performed correctly or on time. One month our electricity bill was exorbitantly high on a non-peak month so I decide to pull the air filters on each floor of the apartment and, unsurprisingly, they were all CAKED with dirt. They looked like they hadn’t been replaced in YEARS. Also got them to take off that utility overage due to general maintenance not being performed.
Also they had predatory pricing tactics. Before all of the other apartment complexes were built they were pushing everyone to resign saying the rates were going up so lock in your rate now! Which was still $30 higher than my rate was the previous lease agreement at UClub. I fell for it. The next month the new complexes opened, they are advertising rates $200 cheaper than what I had. They knew, management knew. They will lie directly to your face and tell you whatever will coerce you to sign another 12 months away to them. Do not live here. There are a lot of places just as nice or nicer that cost a lot less.
Lastly, while the maintenance team did quality work. They always left messes after they finished the job. Like come on guys, really? I know you’re busy but is it that hard to sweep up dust from the drywall you just worked on?
In conclusion, don’t live here, at all costs. There are better places to live that won’t try and swindle you out of money...
