I have been to Arnold's a few time. The first time I was excited for chicken wings but...they are not chicken wings really. They are chicken nuggets surved with sauce. They were good but it was a let down because I expected one thing and got another. (They do have wings but I was encouraged to get their boneless and not sure what I was expecting so that is on me) The staff was nice and the atmosphere is fun. It feels like a mix between a sports bar and an old style bar.
The upstairs has booths with high dividers and it feel personal and something you would see in old fashion bars (really old style also seen in malt soda shops back when they were attached to pharmacies). The down stairs is open with TVs and the bar feels almost apart of the general eating area. The restaurant needs updated and cleaned but the layout has a fun feel IMO.
My last visit was not any better sadly. I ate a the buffalo burger, my wife had a philly stake sandwich and my son had chicken fingers. We were with a group so it was a large order all going in at the same time and we paid for it. The curly fries were under cooked and the replacements were over cooked (burnt really). The chicken fingers were no great but my son is a bit picky so take that with a grain of salt. The buffalo burger with cut in half while still cooking I think to check if it was done. I know because the cut line looked over cooked but after a bit there was pink as I ordered it medium.
I would go back but not as my choice really. Food it bot horrible by any means but subpar for price and ratings of the restaurant. It could be many factors and it is not for me to say what they should done.
Fair warning. It is not a bad restaurant and probably above average for Lumberton. Not really a place none for outstanding food but dont expect anything beyond bar food. Not at restuarant...
Read moreThe outside is unassuming. It's an older building with limited parking which was a bit of a challenge. The inside has upstairs seating so there's room to feed the crowd that come. Entry is a little tight because the register & bar with stools is right there. This place looks like a popular hang out for the locals because the folks around the bar were very friendly with each and appeared to be having a great time. We were not only greeted by staff when we were walking through but also a couple of patrons. The seating includes tables, booths & high tops.
Now for the food! Be ready for local southern goodness but beware if you are on a low sodium diet lol. 1st up was the fried pickles and collard wraps. Pickles were too salty for me but hubby devoured them. He gets fried pickles anytime they're on the menu. The collard wraps were my favorite and the pepper jelly was spicy but delicious. Next up, the stars of the show! The shrimp tossed in their own-made bang bang sauce and my basket of sweet potato fries with brown sugar butter to dip them in! đ I also had lemon pepper wings which were good but the sweet potatoes filled me up. Hubby said the bang bang sauce was unique and they should bottle it for sale.
The staff was excellent and management came by a couple of times to check on us. Our waitress Catrina was so attentive, she is awesome! This is how to make...

This was an unmitigated disaster of a dining experience. We both ordered burgers that took 40 minutes to arrive. My wife ordered a Swiss burger but received an American cheeseburger with bacon. My wife told the waitress that she would eat it as served but didnât want to be charged for the bacon. The waitress assured my wife that we would not be charged for the bacon that she didnât order. We both ordered our burgers cooked medium and both were thoroughly blackened on both sides and badly overcooked/thoroughly dried out.
We didnât see our waitress for 30 minutes and had to ask the bartender for our check. The manager brought us the check and asked my wife, âDid you eat the burger with the bacon?â Seriously?! My wife said yes she ate it because we didnât have another 40 minutes to wait for another burger. The manager said, âWell, if you ate the bacon, you need to pay for it whether you ordered it or not.â Unbelievable.
So, if you are interested in overcooked burgers, slow/inattentive service, and being charged for items you didnât order, Arnoldâs is a good place for you. Otherwise, drive 5 minutes and...
