ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING! Don’t listen to the “local guide” reviews by Scott Grant and Jeffery Smith My Review: - Service was incredible! Some of the best in town! I was greeted with a smile from the moment I walked in the door till the second I left. Place was also very well kept for the amount of people shuffling through. - Coming from somewhere originally where BBQ was almost a religious thing, it’s nice to actually have GOOD bbq in town. Some that even rivals Country Smoak. The smoked jalapeño sausage was some of the best I’ve ever had and the pulled pork sandwich is a must have. The variety of sauce is surprising. The inclusion of the bottled classics impressed me. The size of the sides were good and the portions for meat were perfect. - Pricing was fairly decent. It’s very similarly priced to country smoak which is understandable. Paying $15 for the meal seemed right for the amount of food I got. Leaving satisfied is a high priority in this business. Correcting Scott Grant and Jeffery Smith: - Scott Grant seemed to lie about a few of things and even forget that sales tax applies to food. The sides were definitely larger than 4oz. Country Smoak, a local BBQ place serves 4oz sides which are similarly priced to the sides here at mission, but mission gives a larger portion (see images). I checked the nutritional information which is publicly available and found that the portions are about 6.5-7oz for sides. This BBQ is also better than most in VA. It’s hard to find good BBQ this far up north. People who are biased towards local shops such as Blue Ridge BBQ such as Jeffery have a hard time separating their judgements of outsider restaurants such as this one. I personally was never impressed by Blue Ridge BBQ and found it mediocre at best. TL:DR: Mission is one of the best BBQ places in town and is only really beaten by that of country smoak. It’s decently priced with good portions for good prices. An absolute must try and a place I will be visiting here again whenever I have a need for a BBQ fix. And for Scott and Jeffery: Bless Y’all’s heart

Great atmosphere, quick service. Food was okay. I ordered the meat sampler with brisket and short ribs. My sides were collard greens and green beans. They have an good selection of sauces right at the table or you can opt for vinegar (also at the table). I chose the Tupelo Honey Heat, which was amazing! The first bite was heavenly and I was certain I would be writing a five-star review. However, as the meal went on, I noticed how salty the beans, brisket, and green beans were. I think someone got carried away with the salt shaker! It was probably the same person who made the lemonade, which was waaaaaaayyy to sweet and reminiscent of diabetes in a cup. I needed to add 40% water to make it just right. The texture of the brisket was almost optimal and though slightly overcooked, it was still tasty and moist. The short rib was mostly cooked well with the exception of one section that was overdone to the point it was burnt, dry, and unfit for consumption. My overall rating is more like 3.7/5. With a few small tweaks and the whole experience would have been 5/5. I would try this place again and hope for more moderation on the salt, time on the grill, and sugar in the lemonade. For now I will attribute this misstep to an overzealous cook and lemonade maker.

First time coming in and had a great experience. Food was fantastic and the service was top notch. You can get samples of anything you want to try before you order which was great! The pulled chicken and the pulled pork are both delicious and the Mac and cheese was amazing! Blueberry Conbler was great!!! The guy at the register answered all our questions and was patient and had a good attitude which is so refreshing now days in food service. I’m not sure what his name was but he’s been at Mission bbq for 9 years, he did say that! The whole team all seemed to work well together and they all had smiles on their faces. Place was clean! Will definitely be coming back.

Better late than never! Mission BBQ opened this past summer and we thought it was going to be just another unimpressive bbq restaurant. Tonight we decided to try it and we’re SO glad we did! We were greeted by Keegan at the register and he was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered his recommendations when we asked. He was spot on with everything he mentioned!

🧡We had the “half bird” which is literally a 1/2 a chicken. It was hands down the most delicious, tender, perfectly seasoned and smoked chicken I’ve ever had. We added 5 baby back ribs to the meal and that is now considered a requirement. You can order 1 rib, 5, or a rack and we wanted to try them. 100% worth every penny! Ohmygosh they were out of this word, fall off the bone, flavorful, meaty ribs! Also got combo of jalapeño cheddar sausage, and pulled pork. Husband RAVED about the sausage, and the pork was fantastic! Even the Cornbread was great!!! 🧡Sides we ordered: bbq baked beans, green beans, Mac and cheese, fries, cheesy potatoes, and Coleslaw. Each of these were 10/10 and tasted like they came out of my Granny Stewart’s kitchen in Cleburne, TX. Next time we go (there WILL be a next time!!!) we will cut a few of them off the list, so we would skip cheesy potatoes not because they weren’t great, but we over-ordered as the portions were generous. We have lots of all sides left over for tomorrows dinner as well as all the meats!!! Dessert: caramel apple cobbler. Please know if you have room after a meal like this, the cobbler is enough to bring tears to your eyes! *there are 6 sauces available at each table ranging from spicy, sweet, vinegar based, Smokey etc and they are all great! We liked the Memphis bbq sauce best as it’s sweet. Try them all! 🧡 it’s a place you enter, place your order in the line and get your drinks (large variety of sodas and lemonade, sweet and unsweet tea). They call your name and you go pick up your trays. There is someone constantly in the dining area to assist, bring Togo containers, and anything you may need which was so nice. Tonight a lovely woman named Michelle was making sure everyone was happy, and we definitely were! Staff (Keegan and Michelle 5 stars) Food, for SURE 5 stars. Great overall experience. Bravo to...
