The Yard on 5th Street — Restaurant in Lynchburg

💛so excited about this new Lynchburg restaurant!!

We just had to try The Yard on Fifth which is on the corner of 5th and Federal. The owners are amazing and our server (April) was very attentive and so sweet. The food was delicious, with a large menu that has some thing for everyone!!

We started with an order of jalapeño cheddar hush puppies that come with a drizzle and side of honey. Crispy and flavorful, with a nice jalapeño kick!!

I had the catfish platter, which is seasoned perfectly and fried to perfection, that came with season fries, and barbecue beans, which you can have with or without meat!

My husband had the brisket sandwich that came with french fries.

Every bite was delicious!

The owners have clearly done a tremendous amount of work on this location, and it shows! The dining area is right next to the bar and has long tables for larger groups, or even family style seating where you could share and make friends! Outdoor dining, which is where we chose to sit on this beautiful day, has 4 chair tabletops all with umbrellas. They also  have a huge fire pit area with 9 chairs where you can enjoy a cocktail or even have dinner.

IKaraoke on Thursdays, and bands on Friday (starting soon!), and on Saturdays a DJ!! we were here during lunch and they have excellent selection of music (theSpinners, KC and the Sunshine Band, Luther Vandross, all the favorites!) playing out here in the patio area.

We had such a delicious and fun lunch today, and highly recommend coming for lunch or dinner!

My wife and I were visiting Lynchburg today and thought we would try a new place to eat, so after looking at several local restaurants, we chose this place. We chose poorly. RED FLAG #1

I should have noticed something was off when it was 12:30 on a Friday and the place was mostly empty, RED FLAG #2

Since we were new to this establishment, I asked our server if the hush puppies were good, she didn’t know. My wife asked what kind of bbq sauce came with the pork, she didn’t know. We chalked this up to being a new employee with not so great training. RED FLAG #3

We proceeded to order their hush puppies as an appetizer, my wife got a bbq baked potato and I got a cheese burger.

The hush puppies were decent but that was it.

My cheese burger was obviously a frozen patty that was barely warmed up and the fries were the same. I literally took one bite and couldn’t force myself to continue.

My wife’s potato was cold and old, what was allegedly pork was meat that I am not sure could be identified.

If you prize your taste buds, I would run far away from this place. It would be easier and taste better to light your money on fire and then eat it.

Went last night with my cousins! Had a great time, fun, safe and super fun environment I didn't get to try any food but hopefully ill be back soon to try some food and enjoy another fun night out with good vibes. The owner was pleasant thank you for being attentive and helping to make sure things went smoothly and taking care of our needs. The waitress or server did take my 5.00 for a drink order I made and disappeared and never brought my change back and I never saw it again, it had been so long that I forgot what I ordered and teh owner did get it for me but never saw my change so ill never do that again, it definitely wasn't a tip because a tip wasnt well deserved because I had to go find her and she still didn't get it the owner did. Thats the only thing I would say wasn't good for me and my cousins first time going out there. Otherwise I think its well worth checking out.
