No Mas No Mas! "Mexican Made For Gringos" should be the name of this restaurant. This is quite honestly my least favorite Mexican restaurant in the entirety of Virginia. The 5 Star reviews must have been all friends and family because my expectations were quickly dashed upon receiving my food.
My table got the chips and dip, Avocado and Classic sauces. Avocado was fantastic, great flavour and a little heat. The Classic was too sweet and had no real flavour at all. That is the theme for this restaurant.
We ordered the Birria Torta, Al Pastor Torta, Lengua Street-Style Taco, and a Carne Asada Street-Style Taco. Let me begin on a positive note. The Bread was to die for. Hands down it was the crown on this entire meal. The birria meat was clearly flat grilled and not definitely not cooked in a broth/sauce at all. It was drier than dry and did not even drip a single drop of oil. Not good. The Al Pastor was much the same. Dry, under-seasoned, and under-whelming. Lets just apply that last sentence to the tacos also.
I think that I am most upset about the Lengua more than anything. It is my favorite meat in a taco and is generally the most flavorful and delicate. There was no seasoning at all on this Lengua and it was obvious that I was just eating over-cooked and rubbery cow tongue.
The atmosphere is fine, nothing special. It looks like they were decorated by the same person that did Nitro Cow. The servers were nice.
All in all, not somewhere I will be going back to nor...
Read moreI am a regular at El Camino, and had high hopes for Uno Mas. It was the worst Mexican food I have ever had and the service was terrible.
First of all, they advertise hand made tortillas and when you walk in you see a lady putting pre made, thin, tortillas on a grill. The service was epically slow. Both the server and all of the front staff disappeared for 20 minutes in the middle of lunch. Two ladies were outside under a tree talking, the waiter went to the back room and never returned except to bring our check.
The food....lord. ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. The order was massive, brown green guacamole, chips so oily they pooled oil in the bottom of the tray, and the salsa was tasteless! No salt, nothing. The street tacos were dryer than the Arizona desert, al pastor, carnitas, pollo asada, and fish tacos all lacked moisture and flavor. They were served on thin, not handmade, tortillas.
Ordered some hot sauce to try to fix the meal, it tasted like it was out of a can.
Never going back! I should have known when I saw things like hot Cheeto sushi roll and mac and cheese on a Mexican...
Read moreI really like the decorations, and I think the service was decent. However, I was disappointed by some of the dishes we ordered. The Hot Cheeto Sushi roll was not great. I don’t think they were prepared to handle that when we ordered it. The Papa Rellena was also a let down other than the chimmichuri sauce. I asked if it was a large baked potato, then was informed they didn’t have baked potatoes, so we ordered it with the French fries, then it came out on a baked potato that was smashed and seemed like half. It did not have the melted cheese, so I had to ask for some cheese to add to it as it was pretty dry.
The torta my daughter ordered was decent, but I would suggest sticking with the street tacos, burrito or torta. I did get the Bonita Maria, but I wasn’t too wowed by it.
If I want good Mexican, I’ll stick with El Camino. For my street fries, The Latin Place is where to go. The Mexican Papa Grande, I might have to wait till I go back to Texas as I haven’t seen anything here close to Mexico/Deep...
