Went here on a Friday night after getting bored with Oishii which is my typical go to for Japanese cuisine in Lynchburg. Overall the experience was fantastic and I rate it 5 stars. The restaurant is small and a bit cramped fue to the location but gives the vibe of an actual urban Japanese restaurant that you'd find in a city like Tokyo. My fiancee and I ordered the shrimp yakisoba, cheese wontons and a double order of the shrimp rolls. The yakisobas were delicious and fresh, with the actual shrimps being tender, the vegetables perfectly done and the noodles light but flavorful. Unlike other restaurants, the yakisoba wasnt bogged down with oil or sauce which gave them a nice lightness that I personally enjoyed. The cream cheese wontons were crisp and looked homemade in addition to having a great flavor that wasnt over poweringly sweet. The shrimp rolls were light, crispy and exactly what I would expect from a shrimp roll. All in all, this is a great restaurant with great food and while it may be a bit pricier than the other Japanese restaurants in Lynchburg, its well worth it for the...
Read moreMy friends and I practically lived at this restaurant for a few years before we all moved to different areas. I've yet to find a Japanese place that's this good where I'm living now. It's our first stop whenever we pass through Lynchburg. The food is great! The chicken is never stringy or old and the steak rarely has much fat on it. The atmosphere isn't the most spectacular but the people there are all very nice. None of them are super fluent in English but they still know me and all my friends by name AND they know exactly what we order. It's a great place that I just can't seem to replace no matter where I go. I highly recommend trying Tokyo before you end up spending way too much somewhere else. Portions are generous and prices are about as low as they get for such good food. Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in Lynchburg and I just can't...
Read more2.5... so rounding up to 3 stars. Food court generic Asian food at best.
Ordered egg drop soup, cheese wontons, spring rolls, and the hibachi shrimp, steak, chicken combo. Overall, not impressed, probably won't order here again.
Soup was extremely salty, tasted like salt water with way too much sesame oil. Never seen an egg drop soup that was so... orange, lol.
Spring rolls were good, and cheese wontons were decent. Only reason I'd give the place 3 stars.
Overall, the hibachi was overcooked, bland, and underwhelming. Chicken tasted off. Steak was rubbery. Shrimp was ok at least. The vegetables were well seasoned, probably the only thing I liked. The fried rice was also kind of bland. Just not impressed.
I'd much prefer Oishii or King's Island instead. Can't say I'd...
